    At Los Algarrobos, located on the beautiful costa of Ecuador, you will work as an elementary school teacher and will be submersed in the relaxed costal life of Canoa.

    In 2006 the U.S. Navy veteran James (Jimmy) Dean, together with a small group of parents, setup the bilingual elementary school 

    Los Algarrobos. The goal is to provide the children of Canoa with better education and prepare them for the increasing number of tourists. Nowadays, the school has 93 students and employs local teachers. Nevertheless, the school is helped by volunteers and interns who can support classes and setup as well as assist with extracurricular activities.

    • Introduce children to sport & games;
    • Stimulate discipline, confidence and a pro-active study attitude;
    • Create a safe and stimulating climate;
    • Enforce values and principles such as respect and collaboration.
    At our partner project, located on the beautiful costa of Ecuador, you will be submersed in the relaxed and laid-back costal life of Canoa, an upcoming village where fishery has made room for tourism.

Canoa is famous for its beautiful environment and is also considered one of the best surf spots in Ecuador.     Um an diesem Programm teilzunehmen, musst du zu Programmbeginn mindestens 18 Jahre alt sein. Es kann Ausnahmen geben, wenn du die Erlaubnis deines/r Erziehungsberechtigten vorlegen kannst oder wenn du von deinen Eltern begleitet wirst

    Deine Hilfe wird an folgenden Tagen benötigt: Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Donnerstag und Freitag von 07:00 - 13:00

    Abholung vom Flughafen Mariscal Sucre International Airport

    When you arrive at airport Mariscal Sucre near Quito, our driver José Luis will be waiting for you at the gate. We always provide him with some pictures of you, so he will for sure recognize you. Together with José Luis you will make a one-hour drive to our office in the centre of Quito. At the office, one of our coordinators will welcome you and show you arround in the neighborhood. After a little small talk we will bring you to your host family/ the volunteer house where you have all the time to recover from your flight.

    Depending on what we agreed on, you will make your bus trip to Canoa from Quito fairly soon after arrival or you will first stay with us in the capital for a while.

    Unterkunft

    In Canoa you will stay with a local host family or a hotel. There is a bathroom, mosquito nets and others. Breakfast and dinner are also included.

    Verpflegung

    At the host family, meals go according to the volunteer and exist of a daily varied breakfast and lunch with fish, shrimp, chicken or vegetarian food. Dinners are light, not as strong as lunch. Staying in a hotel does not include meals
