Please note: A mandatory introduction week for this program, consisting of an intro into the local culture and customs as well as an introduction into the internship placement.

Our Nursing or Midwifery Internships offer students an opportunity to begin their careers with practical experience in a developing nation. Participants will be assigned to a respected Government Hospital in Sri Lanka, providing extensive exposure to the local medical infrastructure and clinical practices.

Interns will work under the supervision of the Specialist overseeing the nursing or midwifery department at the teaching hospital in Kandy. The internship involves primarily observational and shadowing roles, with minimum hands-on experience (this would be determined by the supervising specialist). Our program helps you build your confidence, personal and professional network with the fellow doctors and the team.

Cultural Introduction

During the first week of the program, you will be briefed with an introduction to our program. During the first 3 days of the week, you will get a thorough understanding of the Dos, Don’ts and the culture in Sri Lanka. Our programs are not only career-focused but also designed to give you the essence of all the best things about this magnificent and culturally rich country. Getting to know about the proud history and the places that boast about Srilankan heritage, is a part of this week and we make sure that experience will make you fall in love with Sri Lanka.

From Thursday to Friday on your first week, you will receive an academic introduction session before the internship. During these sessions, a professional supervisor will educate you about the local situation and developments surrounding the industry/field in which the internship takes place and prepares the intern for the local work environment/culture.

Kandy, is an amazing destination high up in the hills approx 3 hours drive from Colombo with incredible views, dense forests and a buzzy atmosphere with locals and tourists. Kandy is the last royal capital of Sri Lanka and is famous for it’s culture and temples such as Temple of the Tooth and plenty of others. The city has bustling markets with all kinds of interesting and diverse goods and services from unique handicrafts, exotic foods, arts, music and dance. Kandy has a really cool vibe and is somewhere you can happily explore for an extended period of time.
