    About the program

In Thailand, early childhood education and childcare programs have gained significant importance in recent years. With the government’s push to improve educational access for all children, the demand for high-quality kindergarten and childcare services has grown. These programs not only offer a safe and supportive environment for children but also play an essential role in their overall development.

A key factor driving the rising demand for kindergarten and childcare services in Thailand is the focus on early childhood education. Studies have shown that the first five years of a child’s life are critical for cognitive, social, and emotional growth. As a result, enrolling children in a quality program during these formative years can have a lasting influence on their academic success.
During your time in the kindergarten/childcare program, you will be working with children aged 2 to 5 years old at a local children’s development centre/kindergarten in Koh Samui. Your working hours will be from 08:30 AM to 11:30 AM, four hours each morning.

There is currently a teacher shortage at many kindergartens and childcare facilities in Koh Samui, with some classrooms accommodating up to 30 children. This makes it difficult for a single teacher to give each child the attention they need.

Your role will be vital in assisting local teachers and offering support in the classroom. Through activities like songs, dances, games, and repetition exercises, you will help young children engage with and enjoy basic educational concepts.
Additionally, you may help supervise the children’s meals, play with them, organize events, and occasionally assist with cleaning duties. You may also be involved in basic hygiene tasks, such as brushing hair, trimming nails, and assisting with feeding and caring for the children.

Your support will also give local Thai teachers—many of whom are not fluent in English—the opportunity to practice English with the children. Exposing young learners to different accents and pronunciations early on will help them better understand and speak English, building their confidence in interacting with foreigners.
