    Project 1: Elderly Care

    As grown children pursue their dream jobs and leave their families behind, many elderly parents find themselves without caretakers and are often placed in care homes. This program is designed to address their need for companionship and social interaction. Your visits will help the residents feel happier and less lonely.

    Activities: As a participant, you will spend quality time with the residents, engaging them in various activities such as:

    • Talking and listening to them
    • Playing games
    • Reading and colouring
    • Participating in different exercises

    Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

    Your Role:

    • Engage the residents in different activities
    • Play games and entertain them
    • Talk to them and listen to their stories
    • Read to them
    • Organise recreational and entertainment events
    • Arrange discussion sessions on interesting topics
    • Teach the residents how to use their mobile phones effectively
    • Take the residents to museums and other places of interest
    • Celebrate festivals and birthdays with the elderly
    • Help with cleaning in and around the placement

    Project 2: Special Needs Support and Care for Adults

    Overview: This home caters to adults with varying levels of abilities, created to foster an inclusive environment where individuals with intellectual disabilities feel welcome. Your support will contribute to building a healthier society for these differently-abled individuals.

    Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

    Your Role:

    • Assist members in learning and improving their skills according to their abilities and interests
    • Share moments of happiness and love with both young and old
    • Assist them with basic tasks like walking to the garden and having lunch
    • Help out at the work table
    • Provide them with a sense of value and attention
    • Teach simple singalong songs
    • Assist with physical exercises

    You will also enjoy your stay as you engage in fun, relaxing, and recreational activities after your program alongside other participants. Activities will be assigned based on the daily tasks at the placement.

    Project 3: School for the Deaf and Blind

    Overview: This program is designed to provide comprehensive support for children and young adults with dual sensory impairment and multiple disabilities, including cerebral palsy. It aims to enhance their quality of life, promote independence, and foster community awareness and engagement in disability issues.

    Your Role: As a participant, you will assist in various educational, therapeutic, and vocational activities, such as:

    • Educational support
    • Rehabilitation activities
    • Vocational and functional training
    • Community engagement and awareness activities

    This program offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of these individuals while also raising awareness about disability issues in the community.

    ***You will have the option to join the slum outreach program in the afternoons between 4 pm to 6 pm***

    Airport Pickup at Dabolim Airport

    Programs begin every Monday, and volunteers are required to arrive the day prior, for orientation before the project. Your accommodation on the Sunday is included in the program fees.

    A free airport pickup is included when arriving to Dabolim International Airport (GOI) or MOPA Airport (GOX). You must arrive between 06:00 to 24:00 on Sunday.

    If arriving outside the pickup times we charge an additional fee for any extra night’s accommodation before your program, and another fee for a private transfer.

    Alternatively, if arriving early you could wait at the arrival’s terminal for the pickup time, book accommodation at the airport and meet us during the pickup times or make your own way to the project (we will advise on how to do this).

    From the airport to accommodation, it takes 45 minutes by road.  

    Accommodation

    Enjoy riverfront volunteer accommodation in Goa. The house offers a swimming pool, air-conditioned rooms (2-4 shared single gender), solar-powered showers, Wi-Fi, and balconies with river views. Conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from markets, shops, and restaurants, it is also close to Coco Beach (4 km) and a 20-minute drive from Sinquerim Beach. With 24/7 coordinator support, enhanced security, and modern amenities.

    Food & Beverages

    You will be provided with three meals a day on weekdays and two meals per day on weekends. Our centres mainly serve a mix of Western and Indian food, consisting mainly of vegetarian dishes including rice and vegetables, and provide you with safe filtered drinking water. You may occasionally be served non-vegetarian food.

    Please do not drink water out of taps like you might do at home. We advise you to drink only bottled water while you are outside the centre, unless our staff advises otherwise. You can also use the kitchen facilities to cook for yourself or eat out at any of the local restaurants.

    Please inform us of any allergies you may have or any dietary requirements, so that the team leaders and coordinators are prepared and special arrangements can be made for you.
