    About the program

    The dental internship program partners with a variety of private dental clinics where interns can get real work experience shadowing a dentist and his assistant.

    Interns applying for dental internships with INLEX must be studying dentistry or pre-dentistry. Tasks and involvement in the program are directly related to the level of knowledge of the intern. Interns are expected to know basic Spanish to communicate with doctors and patients. Spanish classes are available before starting the internship, these classes prepare you with specific terminology for the field.

    Interns can assist in a clinic and expect to work in:

    • Patient record keeping.

    • Dental equipment care and preparation.

    • Assistance or observation in procedures like dental check-ups, fillings, extractions, bridges, and implants, root canals, sealants, crowns and caps, and more.

    • Consumable material preparation.


    Availability: Year-long.

    Program Duration:4-12 weeks

    Location: Antigua and surrounding villages

    Schedule:  8 am-1pm, Monday to Friday. More hours are available upon request.

    8 am-1 pm work in clinic.

    1 pm on wards free time.

    Free-time activities

    Program is close to Antigua, Guatemala with many sightseeing sites, gyms, bars, cafes.Also it serves as great starting point for hikes and transportation hub for other parts of Guatemala like Lake Atitlan, el Paredon beach, Tikal and others.

    Minimum Age: 18 years

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Language Skills

    You need to speak Spanish (basic level)

    Dentistry or related field at Iniversity level
