    Education has no limits, and the impact of our Teaching volunteers on local communities extends far beyond the walls of any classroom. Whether you’re teaching English, other subjects, or helping lead extracurricular programs, students consistently show enthusiasm and eagerness to participate.

    As a Teaching English volunteer, you’ll work with both men and women adults to deliver English instruction. Your responsibilities may include:

    • Leading conversational and grammar classes

    • Tutoring exam preparation (e.g., for school-level English assessments)

    • Supporting local teachers in lesson planning and delivery

    • Collaborating with fellow volunteers and interns in traditional classrooms

    • Assisting students with homework and other schoolwork

    • Organizing interactive language games and educational group activities

    • Optionally contributing to summer camps during school holidays

    You don’t need formal teaching credentials to join. We provide full support and training to help you succeed in the classroom. Still, we encourage you to prepare in advance—consider completing an online TEFL or English-teaching course, or bringing helpful teaching materials if you can.

    Volunteer Responsibilities and Daily Schedule

    Volunteers are responsible for both teaching and managing a classroom. Typically, they work in pairs or alongside a local teacher. The number of students per class may vary depending on how many volunteers are assigned to the placement.

    Typical Daily Schedule:

    • 08:00 – Breakfast with host family

    • 09:00–12:00 – Morning teaching session at the placement

    • 12:00–14:00 – Lunch break at the host family

    • 15:00–17:00 – Afternoon teaching session or lesson planning for the next day

    • 20:00 – Dinner with host family

    Note: Actual working hours may vary slightly depending on the specific placement and the season.

    After work and on weekends, volunteers have free time to relax or explore Rabat and other parts of Morocco. In Rabat, popular activities include visiting historical and cultural landmarks such as the Hassan Tower, Kasbah of the Udayas, the Archaeological Museum, and the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

    As a coastal city, Rabat also offers opportunities for outdoor and water activities. Volunteers can enjoy swimming or surfing at the downtown beach or try water sports like canoeing and jet skiing on the Bouregreg River or in the nearby city of Salé.

    Weekends or long weekends are perfect for traveling further across Morocco. Popular destinations include:

    • Marrakech, Fes, Meknes – historic imperial cities

    • Merzouga, Tinghir, Ouarzazate – desert landscapes and ancient kasbahs

    • Chefchaouen – the picturesque blue city

    • Volubilis – Roman ruins

    • Tangier – gateway to the Mediterranean

    Some volunteers also take the opportunity to explore southern Europe, including Gibraltar, Andalusia, southern Spain, and Portugal.

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    The breakdown of your fees are as follows:
    - 50 %: to your host family to cover your accommodation and board. 
    - 20%: to projects materials and supervision where volunteers work. 
    - 30%: to cover the administrative and coordination work of the program. This also includes volunteers' pick up. 

    Airport Pickup at Sale Airport

    Arrival and Airport Pick-Up

    Once you've registered for the program, please arrange your flight to arrive at Rabat International Airport (RBA). Airport pick-up is included in your Program Fee.

    Upon arrival, a member of the local team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Rabat or Salé, depending on the location of your placement. Your accommodation, which is covered by your Program Fee, includes the night before orientation begins.

    If you are already in Morocco before the start of your program, we can arrange a pick-up from Rabat Ville Train Station on the day before orientation.

    Accommodation

    Volunteer Accommodation

    Volunteers are hosted in local homestays, where they live with a Moroccan family and, in most cases, other volunteers. These families receive a portion of your program fee to cover accommodation and meals. Staying in a homestay offers a unique cultural immersion—an opportunity to experience everyday Moroccan life, enjoy traditional food, practice the local language (Darija – Moroccan Arabic), and take part in local customs and traditions.

    Accommodation typically includes a private or shared bedroom, depending on the homestay. Volunteers are advised to bring their own towels and personal toiletries. Moroccan homes usually feature a shared living space, where sdaders (traditional Moroccan couches) serve as both seating and dining areas.

    All homestays in Rabat provide Wi-Fi. For additional connectivity, volunteers can purchase a local SIM card with data for use in an unlocked mobile phone.

    Food & Beverages

    Food and Meals in Morocco

    Moroccan cuisine is a rich blend of African, Arab, Moorish, and Berber influences. It combines Mediterranean fruits and vegetables with a variety of imported spices to create flavorful dishes. A typical Moroccan meal often begins with a selection of hot and cold salads, followed by a tagine (a slow-cooked stew), and is always accompanied by bread. Common dishes include lamb or chicken, as well as couscous served with meat and vegetables.

    As Morocco is a Muslim-majority country, pork and alcohol are prohibited in most households. In contrast, drinking mint tea is a cherished daily tradition.

    Volunteers are provided with three meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—during their stay. While tap water is generally safe to drink, bottled water is widely available. Volunteers who prefer bottled water should budget around US$5 per week, assuming a daily intake of two liters.

    Details on arrival

    Program Orientation and Arrival Information

    Program orientation takes place every Monday, year-round. Volunteers are required to arrive in Rabat on the Sunday before their chosen start date. Once you’ve registered for the program, please book your flight to arrive at Rabat International Airport (RBA). Airport pickup is included in your Program Fee.

    Upon arrival, a member of the local team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Rabat or Salé, depending on the location of your placement. Your accommodation is covered by your Program Fee and includes the night prior to orientation.

    If you're already traveling within Morocco before your program begins, we can arrange a pickup from Rabat Ville Train Station on the Sunday before orientation.
