As part of the staff, volunteers take care of the children and organize activities for and with them. You play, paint and sing songs with them; teach basic subjects such as counting, reading, drawing, etc. Explain important hygiene aspects to them and show them other important skills and abilities. Since physical activity is important for a healthy development, organizing and conducting sports, gymnastics, and outdoor activities is also part of your job. Volunteers also help feeding the youngest and maintaining the facilities clean and tidy.
The volunteer project aims to give the children not only the care they need, but also teach them values such as respect, tolerance and charity, as well as promoting the benefits of learning. So, always be respectful and responsible, and be aware of your role model for the children.
Your working hours are flexible and you discuss your "work plan" directly on site with the day care center and our volunteer coordinators in Quito. Please keep in mind that the funds of the day care center are limited and they count on your help.
Note: The tasks may vary. They depend on factors such as number of
volunteers, season, current needs of the project, as well as
self-motivation. Not every volunteer may be fully involved in all these
tasks.
