the Program
SustainMe
works to empower underprivileged children and families by improving access to
healthcare, nutrition, and education. Many children in our communities suffer
from malnutrition, poor feeding practices, and limited access to nutritious
food, which affects their growth, health, and learning potential.
The
Child Nutrition Champion will play a critical role in promoting good
nutrition, healthy feeding habits, and food security within vulnerable
communities. The volunteer will work closely with caregivers, schools, and
community leaders to implement nutrition education programs, support household
food production, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow strong
and healthy.
This
role is ideal for individuals passionate about children’s health, food
security, and community development—especially those with experience or
interest in nutrition, public health, or agriculture.
Key
Responsibilities
Nutrition Education and Awareness:
Conduct community sensitization sessions for parents, caregivers, and schools
on topics such as balanced diets, breastfeeding, child feeding practices,
hygiene, and food preparation.
Growth Monitoring and Health Promotion:
Organize periodic child growth assessments and health screenings in partnership
with local health workers to identify and address malnutrition early.
Promote Household and School Gardens:
Encourage and support families and schools to establish kitchen gardens,
promoting the consumption of fresh vegetables and fruits while improving food
security
School Outreach Programs:
Collaborate with teachers to integrate nutrition education into school
activities through interactive lessons, nutrition clubs, and school meal
initiatives.
Community Mobilization:
Engage community leaders and women’s groups in promoting child nutrition,
healthy eating, and sustainable food practices.
Data Collection and Reporting:
Document attendance, health outcomes, and behavioral changes, tracking progress
and success stories to evaluate program impact and inform future initiatives.
