We begin with the sunrise, at 6.00 a.m. We have our nutritious plant-based breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Then we continue with our farm activities until 12:30 p.m. when we stop to have lunch.
These would be the areas of tasks and activities:
- Nursery: Plant propagation, seed keeping.
- Composting center: Turn over the compost, and filter it.
- Harvesting: Harvests and post-harvest processes.
- Gardens and terraces: Weeding, planting, mulching, watering, fertilizing, pruning, bio-controlling.
- (Bio) construction: Painting, varnishing, sign-making, collecting natural materials (bamboo, volcanic rocks, clay), processing and building using materials, as well as other smaller projects. It depends on the project at the moment.
- Bio-factory: Making mountain microorganisms (our bio-controllers), bioferment, and Sulfocalcic broth.
- Kitchen ferments: sauerkraut, water kefir, kombucha
- House recycling
- House general cleaning tasks
Community kitchen rotation: Cooking 2-4 times a week (Mon-Fri), breakfast or lunch for the rest of the team. You will do it on your own or with a partner.
During the afternoons we like to include once a week a wellness activity like dancing, yoga, magical passes, campfire, movie night, and more. Afternoons and weekends are also a time to do cleaning tasks, homemade kombucha, and or water kefir. This is also your time to work on your project.
We normally go to bed early, around 9:00 - 10:00 p.m. There are no night activities in the town such as bars, discos, or a restaurant. You have to travel to a nearby city for those types of activities.
Most of the farm activities are physical. The farm is in the mountains with steep slopes up and down; depending on your physical fitness, it can be difficult just to get around the farm. Make sure to be prepared for physical outdoor tasks with tropical weather.
The planning meeting happens on Mondays. We like to make sure that we’re co-creating a safe space from a holistic perspective.
The land is located at 1,200 m a.s.l. This is why we may either have sunny days, as well as rainy and cool ones. We’re surrounded by a wonderful diversity of flora and fauna. You can expect to see an interesting variety of birds, bugs, spiders, scorpions, snakes, and some wild mammals.
