    About the program

This internship is designed to give teenagers a valuable introduction to a career in medicine while exploring the vibrant culture of Peru. You’ll gain hands-on experience by shadowing doctors and nurses in local hospitals and clinics, learning how healthcare is delivered in a different cultural context. You’ll observe patient consultations, different departments, and even surgeries, giving you a realistic insight into the medical field.

In addition to clinical observation, you’ll take part in community medical outreaches aimed at providing basic healthcare services to underserved areas. These activities include health checks, health education sessions, and nutrition promotion campaigns. You’ll help raise awareness about important health topics and support local communities in meaningful ways.

You’ll also attend workshops to deepen your medical knowledge. These may cover first aid, common diseases in Peru, traditional medicine, nutrition, and suturing techniques. Spanish lessons are included to help you communicate effectively and connect with local people.

Beyond the medical activities, you’ll enjoy cultural excursions to explore the rich traditions of Peru. Activities may include dance classes, visits to local markets, trips to archaeological sites, and weekends spent visiting world-famous destinations like Machu Picchu and the hot springs of Aguas Calientes.

This internship not only supports your career exploration but also helps you develop valuable soft skills such as teamwork, adaptability, and intercultural communication. You’ll return home with a stronger sense of global citizenship, practical medical knowledge, and unforgettable memories.
