In many rural parts of Vietnam, access to quality educational resources remains limited. Schools often operate with minimal funding, and safe, quiet environments for children to read and learn outside of school are rare. This project aims to fill that gap by creating a dedicated community library,  not just a place for books, but a welcoming space that encourages curiosity, supports literacy, and nurtures a lifelong love of learning.

The library will serve as a vital hub for education and connection, offering free access to books, hosting reading sessions and workshops, and providing a secure environment for children to engage with learning beyond the classroom. In areas with little to no digital infrastructure, this initiative represents a significant step toward educational equity.

As a volunteer, you’ll help bring this vision to life — contributing to both the physical building of the library and the creative setup of its educational features. Your efforts will have a lasting impact, creating a space that empowers future generations through access to knowledge and inspiration.

Your Role

• Support local builders with construction tasks such as laying foundations, building walls, and installing roofs
• Paint and decorate both interior and exterior library spaces
• Sort and organize donated books and educational supplies
• Create inviting reading areas and interactive learning zones
• Help set up the library for workshops, story hours, and group learning activities
• Encourage local children and families to use and enjoy the new space

Location

Ha Long Bay is a stunning coastal area in northern Vietnam, famous for its emerald waters and towering limestone islands. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s known for scenic cruises, hidden caves, and floating fishing villages, offering a unique glimpse into local life and natural beauty.
