    About the program

    The main focus of these solidarity camps is to support the sustainable and positive development of children from vulnerable or low-income backgrounds in the city of Midlet, Morocco. The solidarity camps have proven to be a very enriching experience for both volunteers and children, providing a great opportunity for cultural exchange and forming strong and lasting bonds between volunteers and children. These camps are fundamental in reinforcing values such as solidarity or friendship among the youth and children of these vulnerable areas of Midlet, and also in their empowerment, as it provides them with valuable life skills (through workshops or classes). 

    • The main task of the volunteers is to help build a better environment for the children and young people attending the center, by carrying out educational and leisure activities, the former focused on supporting the children through their school education and the latter focused on cultural and solidarity exchange. Some of the activities with which our volunteers collaborate are language teaching (English, Spanish and French), artistic expression (drawing or music), physical education, didactic games or other workshops designed by volunteers.

    In addition, volunteers can collaborate in the maintenance of the areas where the children are located, so that they feel as comfortable as possible.

    The following activities are organized with the collaboration of local staff and volunteers:

    • Spanish, French and little English teaching workshops.

    • Drawing, music
    • Other workshops designed by volunteers

    Typical day

    Our volunteers will work in the Midlet area of Morocco, working on Weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 9:00 to 13:00. Weekends are free for volunteers to go discover everything Morocco has to offer them!

    Breakfast: 7:30 a.m.
    Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation.

    Work Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    The afternoon is free to explore the area or relax.

    Dinner: 6:00 p.m.
    Meet with other volunteers for dinner and unwind after the day's activities.

    Mellab, the city you shall be staying in, is a magical place; constantly used by Hollywood as a filming spot due to its impressing landscapes,   also has a lot of culture, having a lot of historic sites and influences from many different groups within Morocco, as it is an important trading route between the North and South of Morocco. Some of the things that you can do during your stay in Midlet are learning Arabic and then practising it at the city's Souks, visit the city's beautiful and historic Kasbahs (you cannot miss Kasbah Taourit!) , visit the desert, visit the mysterious Oasis near the city, and much more. 

    Additionally, you could go discover Marrakech, an attractive city filled with gardens, mosques, markets, and friendly locals; or Fez, one of Morocco's first imperial cities, rich in culture, tradition, and history.

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Other Skills

    We ask our volunteers to be creative, as there aren't many educational tools available. Additionally, being willing to learn and teach, open to other cultures, and passionate about the cause of helping youth and children are all required.

    Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

    Accommodation

    At your accommodation, volunteers stay in rooms they share with other volunteers. Every room includes mattresses and pillows, although volunteers must bring their own sheets and pillowcases. Volunteers will have every basic facility needed, such as a shower, a toilet, a dining room, and a kitchen.

    Food & Beverages

    Three meals a day, breakfast lunch and dinner, are included within the program's fees. Food is Moroccan and prepared by local chefs at the camp.

    Details on arrival

    This project is open all year round except holidays (1 and 11 January, May 1, July 30, 10, 20 and 21 August, 1 and 12 October, 6 and 18 November). The schedule is from Monday to Friday, with approximately 5 hours a day divided between morning and afternoon. Arrivals are on Fridays , to join the program.
