This program offers a unique opportunity to work directly
with children with conditions like Down syndrome, autism, and motor
disabilities, giving each child the personalized care they need. Whether you’re
organizing creative sessions or teaching basic math and reading, your
creativity and compassion will have a profound effect on their progress.
The school is just a few minutes away from Cusco city
center.
Volunteering in a special needs school involves supporting
students with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities by assisting in
classrooms, therapy sessions, and daily living tasks. Volunteers foster
engagement through art, music, and games, while helping with hygiene, feeding,
and mobility. Such roles provide vital extra attention to vulnerable children
and require patience, empathy, and a willingness to aid with varied daily
activities. Volunteers will be assisting the teachers in daily tasks.
The children at the project require a lot of care, attention
and most importantly, companionship and love. Since the children with
physical and mental disabilities don't have access to the care they need, they
often remain completely dependent on their families for the duration of their
lives.
Volunteers can provide a positive influence in the homecare
providing a resource that they would otherwise not have access to, you can give
people with disabilities a chance to gain the confidence and skills they need
to grow into independent adults.
Due to school year, this program is available from April to November.
