    About the program

Help small farmers get the knowledge they need to make the most of their crops in a sustainable way. Volunteers working in this program will be working in an agricultural school and farm that serves as a model for experimental farms for sustainable practices. The farms give ongoing workshops related to better utilization of resources, organic farming and ecosystems.

This program aims to empower farmers in Guatemala by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to optimize their crop yields while maintaining sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

    Volunteer Role:

Volunteers will be based at an agricultural school and farm that functions as a demonstration site for sustainable farming techniques. They will actively participate in and lead workshops and training sessions for local farmers on topics such as:

    • Resource Management: Efficient water usage, soil conservation, and integrated pest management.

    • Organic Farming: Promoting natural fertilizers, composting, and crop rotation to reduce reliance on chemical inputs.

Ecosystem Preservation: Maintaining biodiversity, protecting pollinators, and implementing agroforestry systems.

    Typical day

7 Am: breakfast with host family
8am -3pm work in the farm with one hour lunch break.

7 pm Dinner with host family.
