    You will be able to enjoy Kenya by helping the community and families. There are many children with special needs who do not have the resources to cope with daily life. That is why your volunteer work is so important. 

    Your job will be to work hand in hand with the general coordinators of the center and help both the institution and the needs of the children and families. This way, each of them will be able to receive specialized attention.

    This program provides teaching and tutoring, as well as serving children with physical challenges, cerebral palsy, autism, etc., where they are taught life skills, concentration, coordination, basic writing, English and math.

    Live an impactful experience in Diani Beach, where you’ll stay at a shared volunteer house with other participants. The house includes shared rooms, common areas, Wi-Fi, hot water, and basic amenities (note: no washing machine).

    Commitment, empathy, and a willingness to learn and adapt. You don't need to be a professional, but we value initiative, creativity, and patience when working with children.

    Do you need special equipment?
    No special equipment is required. Just bring comfortable clothes for warm weather and an open heart ready to help and learn.

    Typical day

    Our programs last 4 hours from Monday to Friday, however volunteers can also plan more activities during the weekend if necessary. Most weekends are free and volunteers can plan other activities such as safaris, beach visits or have their own personal time.

    Typical day

    Our programs last 4 hours from Monday to Friday, however volunteers can also plan more activities during the weekend if necessary. Most weekends are free and volunteers can plan other activities such as safaris, beach visits or have their own personal time.

    The volunteer’s daily routine consists of collaboration from Monday to Friday.

    A typical volunteer day begins with breakfast at the accommodation with all the volunteers. At the end, the volunteers meet with the local coordinator to organize the activities planned for the day. Since they are located in the same community, they do not have to travel far.

    Throughout the morning, each volunteer contributes to the assigned tasks. There is a break for lunch and, depending on the needs, the tasks are continued or free time is available.

    The volunteer can visit nearby areas in his/her free time. In the evening the group has dinner and prepares for the next day.

    The schedule may vary depending on the local coordination organization.

    The general activities that you will carry out during your volunteering are:

    • Help with feeding children/young people.
    • Sports activities.
    • Recreational games / Playing and being with children/young people.
    • Help in the kitchen.
    • Wash clothes.
    • Teaching basic reading and writing skills.
    • Psychophysical stimulation / Physiotherapists.

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Accommodation

    Once you arrive you will stay in the volunteer house, located in Diani Beach. The volunteer house has rooms that you will share with other volunteers, you will also share bathrooms and common areas. The house has Wi-Fi and hot water, but it does not have a washing machine.

    Details on arrival

    Open all year round. You will work from Monday to Friday. You should arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or preferably Moi International Airport (Mombasa). Arrival on Saturdays for an induction at the weekend.
