    Sobre el programa

You’ll join a unique conservation program in Kenya’s stunning Soysambu Conservancy, home to the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe and many other iconic African species. The program’s main goal is to protect local wildlife and ecosystems, while also supporting surrounding communities. You’ll work directly with conservation experts and gain hands-on experience through activities like researching endangered species, setting up camera traps, maintaining water holes, and removing invasive plants.

As part of the program, you’ll also join community outreach projects, such as teaching children about wildlife conservation, playing sports, and helping with small construction tasks. These activities help build strong relationships with local people and raise awareness about protecting the environment.

You’ll live and work on the conservancy alongside other teens from around the world. Accommodation is safe and comfortable, and you’ll have staff support at all times. We expect you to come with an open mind, ready to learn, adapt, and work as part of a team. You don’t need any prior experience, just a willingness to get involved and make a real impact.

Our High School Special program is designed specifically for teenagers and runs on set dates, making it easy to fit into your schedule. Throughout your stay, Projects Abroad staff will be by your side to guide and support you, helping you develop skills that will strengthen your CV and boost your confidence for future studies and careers.

Weekend travel – Menengai Crater hike
Put on your hiking boots! Located on the northern side of Nakuru is the single largest surviving volcanic crater in the world. The Menengai Crater is an extinct volcano that offers striking views of Lake Nakuru, Lake Bogoria, and the crater itself. It is believed to be a historic battleground where different Maasai clans fought for grazing land on the slopes of the Rift Valley.

Visit to Lake Nakuru National Park
On the second day of your weekend trip, you'll visit Lake Nakuru National Park. Be sure to enjoy a hearty breakfast, as lunch will likely be late. Once you arrive, you’ll head out on a safari to see some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. This park is famous for its huge flocks of flamingos, and you might also spot black and white rhinos, baboons, hippos, leopards, zebras, buffalo, Rothschild giraffes, and even rare tree-climbing lions!

    Movie night & cultural fun
In the evening, relax with a classic movie night watching "The Lion King" — right in the region that inspired its setting! See how many Swahili words you can recognize during the film. Afterward, enjoy dinner and fun activities back at the compound.

Recogida en el aeropuerto Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

A Projects Abroad staff member will be there to welcome you when you arrive at Nairobi Airport (NBO). From the airport, you will travel on a shuttle bus to Nanyuki, and then be taken to your host family. If you arrive at the airport late at night, you will stay overnight at a guesthouse in Nairobi and take the shuttle the next day. Depending on traffic, this will be a three to four hour drive.

Your airport transfer is included in the cost of your project fee, so you don’t have to worry about extra expenses.

    Alojamiento

Live in the heart of the savannah with everything you need for an incredible Kenyan conservation experience. You’ll have a comfortable bed, shared dorm-style rooms, shared bathrooms, three meals a day, and fresh drinking water. Our team also handles your transport to and from your accommodation.

You’ll stay in a clean, safe, and secure lodge shared with other Projects Abroad participants right on the Soysambu Conservancy. Rooms typically house multiple volunteers of the same gender, and there are shared bathroom facilities.

There aren’t ATMs nearby, but you’ll have the chance to withdraw cash or buy essentials when you first arrive in Nairobi.

Expect to share this unique environment with a diverse group of teens from around the world — a great way to make new friends and build connections. Wake up to picturesque sunrises over the plains, herds of giraffes grazing nearby, and the distant sounds of lions — an unforgettable way to start each day.

    Comida y bebida

Your meals will be prepared by an in-house chef and enjoyed in a communal dining area where you can relax and connect with fellow participants. Who knows — you might even make lifelong friends over dinner!

Your program fees include three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), as well as fresh drinking water. Meals are balanced and nutritious, often featuring local Kenyan ingredients and flavors.

We can accommodate a variety of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, and kosher diets. Please let us know in advance about any specific needs so we can prepare accordingly and ensure you feel comfortable and well-fed throughout your stay.
