    A typical working week runs from Monday to Friday, with each day beginning at 8am and ending around 5pm. During this time, you will take part in a combination of the activities found below:

    • Planting and maintenance of the vineyard and olive trees
    • Soil preparation
    • Erecting the support structure for the plants
    • Acquiring data from the installed precision agriculture sensing system
    • Maintenance of the facilities
    • Setting irrigation equipment and planting
    • Prune and train growing vines
    • Use methods for controlling pests and diseases with regular spraying

    During your free time in the Chania and Kissamos area, you can enjoy a mix of cultural, outdoor, and leisure activities. Explore the charming old town of Chania with its Venetian harbor, lighthouse, and museums. Visit stunning beaches like Elafonisi, Balos Lagoon, and Falassarna, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing. For nature lovers, hiking the famous Samaria Gorge or other scenic trails offers breathtaking views. Kissamos is a great base for exploring nearby villages, traditional taverns, and local wineries. On weekends, you can take boat trips to nearby islets or drive through picturesque coastal and mountain roads.

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    We will review your application and if we accept you on this internship we will ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your place. The remaining of your internship fees (less your initial deposit payment) will be due no less than 30 days before your internship start date. 
    Prior to your arrival you will also be asked to pay a $400 security deposit to cover potential damages, to the apartments and host sites, which is fully refunded after check-out within 30 days if everything is in order.

    For this program the participants need to be physically fit and able to undertake manual labor, enjoy practical activities, work quickly and reliably  both as part of a team and independently, have good oral and written communication skills, be safety aware.

    The program fee includes a free airport pickup on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm.At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability. The farm is located at the quiet coastal village of Kissamos, 30′ drive from the beautiful Chania city, on the island of Crete in Greece.

    Adequate information about the location and hosting institution will be sent before arrival. It includes information about the place, local culture, rules, emergency contact numbers and the local team.

    Accommodation

    The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with easy access to public transport and close to the host site. The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.
