    About the program

Gilys Children Foundation is a community-based organization in Arusha, Tanzania, dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, youth, women, and local communities through education, childcare, skills development, and community outreach initiatives.

Many families in our communities face challenges such as limited access to educational support, youth unemployment, lack of life skills opportunities, and social vulnerability among children. Through our programs, we aim to create positive change by providing educational support, empowering young people, strengthening community engagement, and promoting cultural understanding.

As a volunteer, you will become part of these efforts while experiencing authentic Tanzanian culture and daily community life.

    What is the Program About?

This program combines community service, education support, cultural exchange, and community development activities. Volunteers work alongside local staff, teachers, youth leaders, and community members to support various projects based on community needs.

    • Assisting with environmental awareness initiatives
    • Supporting women and youth empowerment projects
    • Sharing professional skills and knowledge with community members

    Volunteer Role

    • Participate actively in assigned activities
    • Work collaboratively with local staff and community members

    Where Will Volunteers Work?

Volunteer activities take place in and around Arusha, Tanzania. Depending on the project, volunteers may work at childcare centers, educational facilities, community centers, youth programs, outreach locations, and community development projects.

The surrounding area offers a unique combination of urban life, rural communities, and beautiful natural landscapes. Volunteers gain valuable insight into Tanzanian culture while contributing to meaningful community initiatives.

    Who Will Volunteers Work With?

    Volunteers work closely with:

    • Children and youth
    • Local teachers and caregivers
    • Community leaders
    • Women’s groups
    • Youth development facilitators
    • Gilys Children Foundation staff and coordinators

The program promotes cultural exchange, allowing volunteers and community members to learn from one another through shared experiences and collaboration.

    • Cultural immersion and learning opportunities
    • Personal growth and leadership development
