    About the program

Volunteer in Peru with IVHQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization trusted by more than 155000 volunteers since 2007.

Make a meaningful difference by supporting community development initiatives in the vibrant city of Lima. Peru’s capital is a diverse and energetic city where many communities face social and economic challenges, creating meaningful opportunities for volunteers to contribute to positive, grassroots change.

You will assist local community organizations by supporting social programs, helping with daily activities, and contributing to initiatives that improve quality of life for families and individuals. This fully hosted experience allows you to support community wellbeing while experiencing daily life in one of South America’s most culturally rich cities.

Your Role and Impact: The primary goal of this project is to strengthen local communities by supporting programs focused on education, wellbeing, and social inclusion. Many organizations operate with limited resources and rely on volunteers to help deliver essential services. Your involvement helps improve access to support, fosters empowerment, and contributes to long term community resilience.

As a Community Support volunteer in Lima, your duties will vary based on community needs and may include:

    • Program Assistance: Supporting community programs such as after school activities, youth initiatives, or social support services.
    • Education Support: Assisting with informal lessons, homework support, or basic English practice where needed.
    • Community Engagement: Helping organize activities, workshops, or events that bring community members together.
    • Operational Support: Assisting with administrative tasks, organizing resources, and helping local staff manage daily operations.

Volunteers work closely with local coordinators, community leaders, and fellow international volunteers. Local teams provide guidance, explain cultural context, and outline daily tasks to ensure volunteer efforts align with community priorities and create meaningful outcomes.

No special equipment is required for this program. All materials and resources needed for activities are provided on site. Volunteers should bring comfortable clothing suitable for community settings and be prepared to adapt to a variety of tasks depending on daily needs.

No previous experience is required. Flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and a willingness to contribute wherever help is needed make this project particularly rewarding.

Program Details and Accommodation: This fully hosted volunteer experience includes accommodation in a volunteer house in Lima with meals provided each day. Transport to and from community placements is arranged locally. Volunteers gain valuable insight into community development work, connect with volunteers from around the world, and spend weekends exploring Lima’s historic districts, coastal areas, markets, and cultural attractions. Available year round, this program offers a supportive and impactful opportunity to contribute to community wellbeing in Peru’s capital.
