This program is run by a local organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and families through childcare, education and community development initiatives. As a volunteer, you will play a direct role in improving the spaces where children learn, live and grow.
Project Location and Surroundings
The program is based in Arusha, a vibrant city located at the foot of Mount Meru and close to some of Africa’s most famous national parks. The project operates within a welcoming local community where you will experience authentic Tanzanian culture and daily life.
Volunteers will stay in shared accommodation at our volunteer house or a nearby hostel. The area is safe, friendly and close to local shops and public transport.
Who You Will Work With
You will work together with local builders and skilled fundis, project staff and coordinators, other international volunteers and members of the local community. This creates a collaborative and supportive working environment.
The Impact You Will Make
Your work will directly improve the environment where children and the community live and learn.
You will support a daycare center serving over 80 vulnerable children, early childhood education classrooms, volunteer accommodation facilities and community spaces for youth and women programs.
Every wall you paint and every repair you make contributes to a safer and more inspiring environment. Your impact will be visible and long lasting.
What to Expect
Your daily tasks may include brick laying and basic construction support, painting classrooms and buildings, plastering and wall finishing, repairing windows doors and furniture, assisting with simple plumbing and maintenance and cleaning and preparing work areas.
The work is practical, active and rewarding with visible progress every day.
What We Expect From Volunteers
We expect a positive attitude and willingness to learn, flexibility and teamwork, respect for local culture and community and basic English communication skills. No prior construction experience is required.
What Volunteers Can Expect From Us
Volunteers will receive orientation on arrival, ongoing support from local staff, safe and comfortable accommodation, cultural exchange experience, opportunity to explore Tanzania including safaris and local trips and a certificate of participation on request.
What to Bring
Volunteers are advised to bring comfortable work clothes, closed shoes suitable for construction work, personal toiletries, gloves if possible and any useful tools or materials though not required.
