As a volunteer on this project, your work will focus on the following key areas:
Organizing Educational Activities
Promoting early childhood development is a central goal in Cambodia. We aim to equip every child with the skills they need to succeed in school, and you’ll play a key role in this. You’ll assist with improving literacy and numeracy, as well as teaching English. In addition, you’ll engage children in games and sports that help develop motor skills, such as coordination and balance.
Each week, you'll spend time teaching English. This is an essential part of the program, as the children greatly benefit from practising with a native speaker.
Hygiene and Health Initiatives
Another major goal is to improve the hygiene practices of the children, which will help prevent illness and promote better overall health. You’ll teach children the importance of daily hygiene routines through educational campaigns, interactive demonstrations, and role-playing activities.
Additionally, every two weeks, you’ll assist with health check-ups, tracking children’s height and weight. By guiding them through the process and celebrating their progress with cheers, you'll encourage them to stay engaged and motivated to participate in future check-ups.
Supporting Local Staff
Many care centers in Cambodia operate with a lower staff-to-child ratio, allowing for more individualized attention, which is crucial for early childhood development. Local staff are dedicated but often need additional support. As a volunteer, you’ll help ease their workload by taking on various responsibilities, giving them more time to focus on other management tasks.
In addition to supporting the staff, you’ll assist with daily activities at the care centers, such as setting up tables, cleaning, and performing general maintenance to ensure everything runs smoothly.
International Volunteering Diploma
