Days begin early, just after sunrise, to take advantage of the cooler morning hours. After a light breakfast, volunteers head to the stables to feed, groom, and tack up the horses. Each horse is checked carefully before work, teaching attention to condition, soundness, and overall wellbeing.

Mornings often involve riding out to check cattle in different grazing camps. Volunteers ride experienced stock horses across open rangeland, assisting with moving cattle, inspecting fences, checking water points, or gathering specific animals when needed. On certain days, horses grazing out in the field are checked either on horseback or by vehicle, depending on distance and terrain. This teaches volunteers how to monitor horses in large, natural grazing systems.

Wildlife such as oryx, kudu, and warthog are frequently encountered during these rides, making each outing unique. Depending on the season, mornings may also include cattle sorting, assisting with vaccinations, monitoring calves, or preparing livestock for transport. Volunteers learn calm, practical stock handling methods suited to real farm conditions.

Late morning includes untacking, cooling down horses, stable management, and tack care. Horses are fed or turned out, and general stable areas are maintained. There is then a break during the hottest part of the day.

During this midday break, volunteers can relax at the villa where they stay, cool off with a swim, enjoy a short game drive, go for a hike, or simply rest and take in the quiet Namibian surroundings. The balance between hard work and peaceful downtime is an important part of farm life.

Afternoons may focus on young horse development. Volunteers assist with groundwork, handling exercises, desensitizing, and observing or supporting early training under saddle. The emphasis is on building confident, reliable horses suited for working cattle.

Some days include general farm maintenance such as fence repairs, checking infrastructure, or assisting with small improvement projects. Flexibility is essential, as daily tasks depend on livestock needs, weather, and seasonal demands.

Evenings are calmer. Final feeding rounds are done, horses are checked once more, and everyone gathers for dinner. Afterward, volunteers can relax under wide African skies before preparing for another rewarding day on the farm.
