    Whether you love football and adventure, this sports development volunteer program in Ghana, is the best option for you. Choose from our range of unique sports coaching volunteer activities in Ghana.
    Whether you just love football or you’re a spectator, we have a project for you in Ghana! No experience required, just a desire to use Sports to help others. Football coaching volunteers train, play and get immersed into the life of the community. The football project in Ghana is perfect for gap year, summer holidays, student travel and career breaks.
    Many children in Ghana don’t have the opportunity to receive proper coaching. Sports has the power to bring people together. It speaks a universal language and cuts through culture, race and religion.
    This is a fun project for anyone who loves working with children and youth. The youth are very enthusiastic and always keen to learn, play, and interact with volunteers.
    You will work together with the coaches of the football team. The football team ranges from Under 12 through to the senior team. You are advised are advised to bring their football own cleats and jerseys. 

    Typical day

  • You are advised to do this project together  with teaching in a school, since the football training starts at 3pm from Monday through to Friday. You can also just do the football project without teaching in the school.

  • You are advised to do this project together  with teaching in a school, since the football training starts at 3pm from Monday through to Friday. You can also just do the football project without teaching in the school. 
  • Breakfast served from 5am onwards. Volunteers and Interns start the day usually with breakfast . After breakfast,  volunteers walk to their schools which is normally around the volunteer house
  • Work: Tactical briefings with football coaches, taking teams through football drills, coaching, analysis, fitness and conditioning, mental toughness, team building and chemistry, motivation and game preparation. 
  • Closure: Volunteers usually finish their training around 6pm, depending on the days task . 
  • Dinner: Volunteers have dinner together with other volunteers/interns in the volunteer accommodation. All meals are freshly prepared by on onsite cook. 
  • Evening : Volunteers are free to plan their evenings. You can stay in or opt for a night out with other volunteers.

During your weekend, you can visit national parks, lively local markets, historic landmarks, and much more. Some of the most popular places to explore during your weekend are: Cape Coast castle, Wli water falls, Mole National park, Kakum National park and many more . 

    You can also spend your free time visiting the many beaches spread along the coast of Ghana

    Minimum Age: 18 years

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Time Commitment

    A member of our staff will be at the airport to pick you up on the day of arrival. Please do well to send us your flight details.

    Accommodation

    The volunteer house is located in a safe residential neighborhood, with all amenities at your finger tips. In the volunteer housing, bedrooms are shared by gender. Each room in the house usually has two bunk beds. Small shelving units are provided for essentials and there's enough space to pack your suitcases in the bedrooms for the rest of your luggage.

    Food & Beverages

    You will be served tea, coffee, toast, boiled egg, bread, and other local specialties during breakfast. For dinner, you will experience a variety of local Ghanaian cuisines such as rice with stew, yam or plantain (ripen), seasonal vegetables, and red beans.
