    Integrated Learning Experiences Central America was founded with the idea in mind to make a positive impact in the communities that we work in. The philosophy of the organization has roots in the founders' experience in the Peace Corps and the ultimate goal is to help communities help themselves in the long term.

    The physiotherapy program is a great fit for people looking for experience with real patients in physiotherapy clinics. Interns joining this program must have experience in PT, rehabilitation, or occupational therapy. Depending on the intern's profile he or she can be assigned to different clinics that focus on chronic pain management, sports injuries, or geriatrics.

    Possible tasks:
    • Helping patients during physiotherapy sessions.
    • Home visits.
    • Developing workshops aimed to create awareness of occupational therapy and how to avoid certain conditions.
    • Shadowing therapists as needed.
    Availability: Year-long.
    Program Duration: 4-24 weeks
    Location: San Ramon de Alajuela.
    Schedule: Schedule changes depending on workload, but typically working hours are from 8am - 3pm. Monday-Thursday.

    Typical day

    • 7 am : breakfast with host family
    • 7:30 am: walk to project
    • 8am : meet with project staff to oversee daily tasks
    • 1pm: lunch time
    • 4pm: Project work time ends
    • 7 pm: Dinner with host family

    Free-time activities

    San Ramon is centrally located to various places like la Fortuna or Monteverde. Also many hikes are available around San Ramon.
    Gyms and various sporting centers are also available.

    Requirements

    Requirements

    Minimum Age: 18 years

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Language Skills

    You need to speak English (basic level)

    Education Requirements

    Physiotherapy or related field at Student or graduated in physiotherapy or related field level

    Required Documents

    CV, proof of academic training, Travel health insurance and copy of passport

    Nationality Restrictions

    No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.

    Time Commitment

    Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 08:30 - 14:00
