    If you’re aged 15 to 18 and love animals, then this Conservation High School Special is for you! Help protect incredible wildlife, including the greater one-horned rhino.

    You’ll live with other teenagers in the Community Forest of Chitwan National Park. There’s no better place to join if you’re seeking stunning scenery and amazing animals.

    Working alongside conservationists, you’ll also gain valuable, resume-worthy skills and experience.

    Engage in rhino surveys by jeep, observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Explore diverse ecosystems while documenting farmland and wetland birds, butterflies, and herpetofauna — all contributing valuable data to the preservation of biodiversity.

    This trip runs for two weeks on fixed dates during the holidays, making it perfect for high school students. You’ll follow a set itinerary designed to help you get the most from your time protecting rhinos in Nepal.

    Enjoy a special weekend trip filled with nature, culture, and stunning views.

    Start your morning with a scenic hike to Devchuli Hill, where you’ll have the chance to spot the rare Spiny Babbler — the only bird species endemic to Nepal and supported by Birdlife International.

    Continue the hike in the afternoon, enjoying a packed lunch surrounded by beautiful views and peaceful nature.

    In the evening, immerse yourself in local culture with a lively traditional dance program that showcases the vibrant spirit of the region. Enjoy dinner back at the guesthouse afterward.

    The next morning, visit CG Shashwatdham Temple, a Hindu religious site devoted to Lord Shiva. As you explore, you’ll learn about Hindu religion and traditions.

    After lunch, take a cable car up to the Maula Kalika temple and soak in the breathtaking panoramic views of the area.

    End the weekend with dinner at a local restaurant before returning to the guesthouse for a restful night.

    Airport Pickup at Tribhuvan International Airport

    Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, a Projects Abroad staff member will be there to welcome you. They will then drive you to your accommodation in the city, where you’ll be able to relax and settle in. It’s about a thirty minute drive from the airport to the city centre.

    If you’re being placed in Chitwan, you’ll spend your first night in Kathmandu, before travelling to Chitwan the next day by bus.  

    The cost of your airport transfers are included in your project fee.  

    Accommodation

    Surround yourself in nature and live on the outskirts of the stunning Chitwan National Park. Despite the remote location, you will have all the essentials you need to enjoy your expedition, including a clean bed, three meals a day, and fresh drinking water. Your accommodation will be within walking distance of your placement.

    You will live in a clean, comfortable, and safe guesthouse with other Projects Abroad travellers, giving you the chance to share stories, cultures, and experiences with your new friends.

    Food & Beverages

    Your meals will be prepared by an in-house chef using fresh, local ingredients, and served in a communal dining area where you can relax and get to know your fellow volunteers. Your program fees include three meals a day — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — along with safe, fresh drinking water.

    Meals are hearty and balanced.

    We can cater for vegetarians and vegans. Please let us know in advance if you have these dietary requirements, so we can make sure you are well taken care of during your stay.
