    About the program

In Valencia, many children face important problems such as lack of adequate food, lack of caregivers, lack of tutoring, domestic violence, behavioral problems and difficulties in adapting to their environment. Therefore, in this program our main objective is to support children facing these problems by trying to diminish them as much as possible.

We want to create a safe space for children facing these problems and compensate for these problems. We strive to generate safe and solid bonds for the children, as they will ensure the best conditions for them to develop and be educated.

Through this program, it will directly help to improve the children's self-esteem and confidence, social skills, autonomy and academic skills.

As a volunteer, there are two shifts with which you can collaborate. The tasks you can perform vary depending on the shift: Monday through Thursday we collaborate to support children and youth.

During the morning which is from 10:30 a.m. to 14:00 p.m., volunteers perform tasks that are mainly related to supporting out-of-school children, ages 0 to 6. Our focus is to help children to positively incorporate into the school environment; that is why all activities will be based on experiences or games, as this helps children to be immersed in an environment of affection and trust, something that ensures a good pace of development for the children's self-esteem and social integration.

Some activities you may be doing are:
    • Supporting children's early stimulation through activities that improve vision and hearing, as well as activities that enhance language and social development.
    • Supporting the development of children's language skills through dialogue and other activities.
    • Use colors, shapes and other didactic resources to enhance children's visual-spatial intelligence.
    • Support tutors who help children during their regular meetings.
    • Among many other activities that can help these children.
During the afternoon which is from 16:00 to 19:00 hours, volunteers perform tasks that are mainly related to supporting the children in their school work. Our focus in this shift is to strengthen the children's social and academic skills, autonomy, maturity and to encourage good habits and values in these children such as responsibility, order and punctuality.

Some activities that you may be doing are:
    • Supporting children in the development of their daily schoolwork.
    • Helping children with learning difficulties.
    • Encouraging children to adopt healthy study habits.
    • Among many other activities.
    • Volunteers can also help in the charity store from Monday to Friday.
From mid-June and July the activities are only in the morning and outdoors as it is our summer camp.
