    About the program

Volunteering With India runs a heartwarming and impactful center for street children in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This program supports vulnerable kids who are found living and working on streets, railway stations, bus stands, and traffic signals. Many of them have been forced into begging, selling tobacco, or working in harsh conditions just to survive—and some are abandoned or rescued from criminal exploitation.

With the support of our dedicated team and help from local authorities, we rescue these children and bring them into a safe, nurturing environment. At the center, they receive nutritious meals, a secure place to sleep, education, and opportunities to grow through play, creativity, and care.

Since its beginning in 2007, this program has helped transform the lives of thousands of children—giving them hope, dignity, and a second chance. We remain in contact with many of the children after they’re reintegrated into society, ensuring their ongoing well-being and progress.

International volunteers play a crucial role in this mission. You'll always have the guidance of an English-speaking project coordinator who supports you at every step, helping you connect deeply with the children and make your time in India meaningful and rewarding.

    Mission of the Project

Our mission is to protect, rehabilitate, and empower street children by preserving their childhood and securing their rights. We aim to reintegrate them into society by fulfilling their basic needs—education, care, safety, and personal development.

    Role of the Volunteer

As a volunteer, your time and energy directly impact the lives of these children. Your responsibilities may include:

    • Teaching Basic English and Mathematics

    • Conducting Personality Development Workshops
(e.g., building confidence, manners, hygiene, positive thinking)

    • Organizing Creative Activities
      (drawing, painting, henna art, storytelling)

    • Leading Sports and Recreational Games
      (for physical and social development)

    • Health & Hygiene Education
(including awareness about nutrition and diseases like HIV/AIDS)

Your presence helps bring joy, emotional support, and learning opportunities to children who often feel abandoned by society.

    Why This Project Needs You

Many of the children at our center were abandoned, trafficked, or rescued from child labor. They come with painful pasts—but the love and attention from volunteers like you can change their future.

Volunteers create a nurturing environment, giving these children the sense of family they’ve lost. We provide all essentials—educational materials, food, accommodation, and sports equipment—but what truly enriches this project is your time and care.

    What You Will Gain

    • Lifelong memories from working with children and exploring the rich culture of India

    • Deep personal satisfaction from contributing to a meaningful cause

    • A valuable cross-cultural experience and understanding of India’s traditions and language

    • International volunteering experience to boost your CV

    • Lifetime membership with VWI after project completion

    • Friendships with volunteers from around the world
