    About the program

    Our Work
iSea is an Environmental Organisation founded in 2016 in Thessaloniki, Greece, with the vision of a healthy Mediterranean Sea supporting sustainable development and resilience of local coastal communities. Its team consists of young but experienced people from multidisciplinary backgrounds who share their passion for environmental protection and enthusiastically work based on the common values of collaboration, transparency, scientificity, and equity.
Conservation Work in Amvrakikos Gulf & Inner Ionian Archipelago
We collaborate closely with local communities to preserve and restore marine ecosystems. Key projects take place in the Amvrakikos Gulf — within the breathtaking Amvrakikos Wetland National Park — and across the Inner Ionian Archipelago, including Formicula islet. Volunteers help monitor sharks, rays, sea turtles, monk seals, and Posidonia seagrass meadows, safeguarding critical habitats and rich biodiversity.
    Volunteer Experience and Support
As a volunteer, you’ll work alongside experienced project managers and marine conservation professionals with over five years of field experience and academic backgrounds in marine biology. You’ll receive hands-on training, scientific guidance, and support in a collaborative and motivating environment designed to help you build valuable field skills and make a real impact. We provide essential tools and safety gear for fieldwork and water activities. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own bathing suit for comfort.
    Tasks
In addition to species monitoring, you’ll take part in wider conservation efforts, including
    • local fisheries monitoring,
    • biodiversity surveys using scuba diving,
    • snorkeling, stand-up paddling (SUP) and remote camera video surveys
    • Remote camera and public awareness campaigns
These activities help safeguard marine resources for future generations.
    Our Impact and Your Role
Our research highlights the Amvrakikos Wetland National Park and the Ineer Ionian Archipelago are vital habitats for marine life. By tracking population health and behavior, volunteers contribute to meaningful conservation outcomes, raising awareness and driving action. This is more than science, it’s a chance to make a real difference while exploring Greece’s stunning coastal and marine landscapes.
