📆 Start Dates & Arrivals
Volunteers are welcome to begin or end their project at any time—we offer flexibility to suit your travel plans. The minimum commitment is 4 weeks, but we encourage longer stays for a deeper and more rewarding experience.
✈️ Arrival in Zanzibar
Upon your arrival at Zanzibar International Airport or the Stone Town ferry terminal, our friendly Khaya coordinator will be there to greet you. From there:

You’ll be taken to your accommodation and given time to settle in and meet the team.

A comprehensive orientation will follow, covering important rules, cultural guidelines, and project expectations.

You’ll receive a basic Swahili lesson to help you navigate daily interactions and feel more immersed.

We’ll also teach you how to use the daladalas (local minibus taxis) so you can get around like a local.

In your first week, you’ll enjoy a free guided tour of Stone Town, exploring its winding alleys, historic sites, and vibrant culture.
