    About the program

Bring the energy of the classroom to one of Peru's most remote mountain schools and see curiosity blossom where resources are scarce.

Every weekday morning, you'll create or adapt lesson plans, lead small-group tutoring sessions, and incorporate vocabulary into songs, sports, and educational games. The school serves approximately 200 children from villages with fewer than 60 inhabitants; your patience and imagination transform your every action into a broad horizon of possibilities.

The conditions are rustic! Infrastructure, rural surroundings, unlike anything you've ever seen! But also the boundless hospitality of families eager to share Quechua traditions. Our team takes care of airport transfers, two nights of acclimatization in Cusco, if necessary, and full support so you can focus on what matters: helping young minds reach beyond the valley.

    Why This Program Matters

Speaking English is a powerful tool for young people in this region. Tourism is one of the strongest industries in the Sacred Valley area and in Cusco, but most children in rural communities lack access to English education. Families often can't afford private lessons, and local schools are under-resourced and understaffed. Education is particularly fragile among teenagers, who tend to leave rural areas in search of work in big cities. This program helps plant the seed of opportunity right where it's needed most.

By bringing international volunteers into these classrooms, we aim to boost motivation, provide meaningful language exposure, and show students that learning can truly lead to a better future. Volunteers serve not only as teachers but also as role models—bringing hope, connection, and encouragement.

What You’ll Do as a Volunteer

You'll work primarily with children aged 6 to 16 in rural public schools located in isolated Andean villages. These schools receive very little government support, so your presence makes a significant difference.

    Your role may include:

    • Teaching or assisting in English classes

    • Preparing and leading engaging, interactive lessons

    • Offering one-on-one tutoring to students who need extra help

    • Organizing educational games and cultural activities

    • Occasionally helping in other subjects like Math or History

You can bring your own creative ideas to the classroom, flexibility and initiative are highly valued! Lesson plans are not typically provided by the schools, but you’ll receive materials, books, and suggestions to help you prepare.

    What to Expect

    • No special equipment is needed: just bring your open mind and adventurous spirit!

    • Living conditions are basic and meals are simple.

    • Flexibility is key: the program can feel disorganized at times due to the realities of rural life, but that's exactly why your support is so vital.

This is more than just a teaching opportunity, it's a cultural exchange and a powerful act of solidarity.
Join us in helping young people in the Peruvian Andes believe in their potential and build brighter futures.
