    About the program

    Looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that blends cultural immersion, meaningful volunteering, and Himalayan adventure? This Volunteer & Trek Annapurna program by Third Eye Foundation Nepal gives you the best of Nepal in just 4 weeks!

    The journey begins in Kathmandu, where you’ll enjoy a warm welcome and guided cultural tours of ancient temples and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Then spend your first week participating in orientation sessions, basic Nepali lessons, meditation, and planning your volunteer work.

    Not required to bring any special equipment as you are going general volunteer activities. 

    Next, head to a remote mountain village to spend 15 days volunteering. 10 days is for basic 4 weeks sign up. You can sign up for additional weeks.  You’ll live with a Nepali family and contribute to local schools, farming, and cultural exchange projects. Share your knowledge, play with kids, help with sustainable farming, and bond with villagers while learning about authentic Himalayan life.

    After your volunteering work, travel to Pokhara and start your Annapurna Base Camp Trek—one of the most iconic trekking routes in Nepal. You'll pass through rhododendron forests, mountain villages, and majestic Himalayan landscapes with views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Dhaulagiri.

    Conclude your adventure with a relaxing stay in Kathmandu before flying home, filled with memories, impact, and inspiration

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Pickup Details:

    • Complimentary airport pickup is included in your program fee.

    • A friendly representative from Third Eye Foundation Nepal will meet you at the arrival gate holding a sign with your name.

    • Please provide your full flight details (arrival time, flight number, airline) at least 7 days before your arrival to help us coordinate smoothly.

    After Pickup:

    • You will be transferred directly to your accommodation in Kathmandu (homestay ).

    • Our team will assist you with settling in and provide an orientation schedule.

    Accommodation

    During your volunteer journey with Third Eye Foundation Nepal, you will stay in a combination of homestays, volunteer houses, and teahouses, depending on the phase of your program.

    🏙️ In Kathmandu – Homestay or Volunteer House

    • You’ll stay with a carefully selected Nepali host family or at our comfortable volunteer guesthouse in a peaceful residential area of Kathmandu.

    • Rooms are private or twin-shared, based on availability.

    • The home is equipped with:

      • Western-style toilet and clean bathroom

      • Wi-Fi access (limited speed)

      • Hot water (solar or gas-heated)

      • Basic furniture and bed linens

    • 3 traditional Nepali meals are provided daily (vegetarian options available).

    • You'll enjoy a welcoming and safe environment where you can learn Nepali customs, language, and family culture firsthand.

    🏔️ In the Village – Local Homestay

    • During the village volunteering phase, you’ll live with a local family in a rural Himalayan village.

    • Accommodations are simple but clean and cozy, providing an authentic lifestyle experience.

    • Rooms may be private or shared (same-gender volunteers), with:

      • Basic bed and bedding

      • Squat toilet or eco-toilet (depending on location)

      • Limited or solar electricity

      • Bucket or solar hot water for bathing

    • Meals are home-cooked and eaten together with the host family, offering a true cultural exchange.

    • You’ll experience local farming life, festivals, and warm hospitality.

    🥾 During the Trek – Mountain Teahouses

    • While trekking to Annapurna Base Camp, you’ll stay in local mountain teahouses (lodges).

    • Rooms are basic twin-shared with common toilets and showers.

    • Meals are purchased in the teahouses, offering a variety of Nepali and international dishes.

    • Cozy blankets are provided, but you should bring or rent a sleeping bag for extra warmth.

    • Electricity and Wi-Fi are available in some locations (small fee may apply).

    What Happens After Arrival

    1. Warm Welcome in Kathmandu
      Upon arrival, you’ll be picked up from the airport and transferred to your homestay in Kathmandu

    2. Orientation & Cultural Introduction (First 2–3 Days)

      • Welcome session and full program briefing

      • Introduction to Nepali culture, traditions, local etiquette, and safety

      • Basic Nepali language lessons

      • Guided cultural sightseeing (UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and more)

    3. Village Volunteer Phase Preparation

      • Discuss volunteer goals and project needs

    4. Transfer to Village (Day 4–5)
      After your orientation in Kathmandu, you’ll travel to your volunteer village by private vehicle or local bus (arranged by our team). Your host family and local community will be ready to welcome you warmly.
