    About the program

Menstrual Health & Reusable Sanitary Products

We support menstrual health education in schools and communities and provide reusable sanitary products where needed. Volunteers can help explain how reusable products are used and support educational sessions that encourage girls to talk openly about menstruation without shame.

Learn about HIV prevention and sexual health

Volunteers can support educational activities on topics such as menstrual health, reproductive health, family planning, HIV awareness, personal hygiene, women's rights and mental wellbeing. Depending on the project, volunteers may also support English lessons, computer skills, creative activities, cooking, business education and other practical learning opportunities.

The program works with local partner organisations, including a girls' support centre, a community centre for women and schools in and around Arusha. Volunteers may also join outreach visits to Maasai communities, where they can support educational sessions and distribute reusable sanitary products and other materials provided by the project.

The aim is to create safe spaces for learning, encourage open conversations about topics that are often difficult to discuss and help women and girls gain knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their health, education and future.

Our volunteers work alongside local staff and community partners. They are not expected to provide medical, psychological or other specialised services unless they have the appropriate professional qualifications and are specifically authorised to do so.
