    Our work is focused on providing solid emotional and educational support to women who are at risk or socially excluded. Our mission is to foster the development of their personal autonomy and promote a significant improvement in their social inclusion. We firmly believe that empowering women in these circumstances is a fundamental step towards enabling them to take control of their lives and overcome the barriers they face.

    We work closely with these women, offering them activities and tasks specifically designed to address their needs. Through this approach, we provide them with the tools and emotional support necessary to strengthen their confidence and skills. We focus on empowering them to make informed and positive choices, enabling them to meet the challenges they face.

    Please note: These are the individual objectives that are being worked on with the women at the moment.

    Activities 

    The Women's Programme runs from March to December for volunteers. 

    • The programming of the workshops and activities is directly linked to the achievement of our specific objectives, with each activity focusing on one of them and providing our women with tools to overcome the risk situation or to avoid its chronification.
    • The workshops and courses on personal development, pre-employment training and work orientation are developed individually.

    Personal development 

    • Personal development and empowerment: group or individual therapy for self-knowledge, interpersonal relationships and self-esteem.

    • Literacy: Betting on the transformation of the reality of our women through education, as a tool to improve their quality of life and personal growth.

    From Monday to Friday, in the mornings or afternoons, we work with different women on an individual basis. This work can be done in their homes or at the volunteer's home, or the volunteer can schedule walks or go out to a café, for example.

    Timetable from Monday to Friday

    From Monday to Friday, in the mornings or afternoons, we work with different women on an individual basis. This work can be done in their homes or at the volunteer's home, or the volunteer can schedule walks or go out to a café, for example. 

    The working hours depend on the woman you are working with. With those women whose goal is to develop daily habits, the day may start between 6:30-7:00 in the morning. 

    The women's group meets approximately twice a month. There may be months when there are more specific activities, so the number may vary. On the other days the volunteers who are in the project support the home teaching project where we also work with women on a one-to-one basis. They can also propose workshops focused on personal growth, self-esteem and learning in general.

    Free initiative

    Depending on the number of volunteers we will divide into groups. We want the workshops, activities and school support to be a way of learning, sharing, having fun and getting out of the routine. It is therefore important that every volunteer who is part of the project brings a PROPOSAL FOR AN ACTIVITY OR WORKSHOP.

    This proposal can be related to your profession, your talents, hobbit or with themes such as sewing, art, yoga, gardening, recycling, self-knowledge and early stimulation.


    Regarding the workshops or activity that you propose in the form that we send to the volunteer, this must indicate: 

    • A proposal for the workshop or activity.
    • The age group it is aimed at.
    • Materials, as it will be you who will lead the activity.

    Bocas del Toro

    It is very close to the Costa Rican border. On its beaches you can regularly go surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, enjoy the sun and the nightlife among many other activities.  

    Santa Catalina-Santiago Beach

    It is a small coastal town, during the day you can go to the beach and go surfing.  You can also book an excursion to Coiba Island.  

    Portobello and Mamey Island-Colón

    This beautiful and historic place located in the Caribbean area can be visited in a weekend.

    What is provided to the volunteer

    • Information and accompaniment before and during your incorporation.
    • Accommodation during the induction and your participation as a volunteer.
    • Breakfast in the mornings from Monday to Friday.
    • Lunches from Monday to Friday.
    • Dinners from Monday to Thursday.
    • Orientation to the project and the village (Sundays).
    • On-site coordinator.
    • Volunteer certificate.


    Not provided 

    • Airfare, bus, taxi, other.
    • Vaccinations and visas if required.
    • Airport pick-up.
    • Internal transport, including to and from projects.
    • Excursions.
    • Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) on the weekend, including Friday dinner.
    • International medical insurance (Compulsory).
    • Cost of criminal and sexual police background check (required for this project).
    • Cost of transportation to and from the project site and accommodation (approximately $1.50 per day).

    Alojamento

    Distribution of the house

    We have 3 rooms with fans, bunk beds with foam mattresses:

    • 8-bed room 
    • 6-bed room 
    • 4-bedded room 


    We have two bathrooms: No hot water.

    • Kitchen for common use
    • Drinking water on tap
    • Lounge (rest area)

    Laundry area: Use of washing machine and dryer at a low cost of 10$ (only on Mondays and Thursdays). In case you do not want this service you have a semi manual washing machine or space to wash by hand.

    It is important to note that the rooms are shared and volunteers are assigned according to their arrival date, thus ensuring an equal and comfortable distribution for everyone. 

    Please note that this is a simple house with the basic comforts of a Panamanian family.

    Drinks are not included, in Chame which is the area where the project is located the water is drinkable.
