The Recycling Village is the heart of the project.

    About the program

The Recycling Village is the heart of the project.

    What is the Recycling Village?

The uniqueness lies in the fact that all buildings are constructed entirely from sustainable materials, including a significant amount of recycled plastic waste used in the construction of the village.
Many issues are solved at the same time:
Plastic is removed from nature, jobs are being created as well as significantly increasing environmental awareness locally across all generations.

The Recycling Village is a place right next to the rainforest, where on 3ha exclusively public buildings are built.
So far we have already built the Trashbank (place where garbage is stored, separated and cleaned), the Co-Working Office (place where we accompany local people into self-employment and provide everything it takes like laptops, WiFi, ...), the Green Education Center and Green Education Cafe (place where everyone from school classes to tourists can be educated by locals about environmental issues), the most sustainable Community Sports Field in the world (e.g. there is no soccer field in the village), the Compost House (organic 'waste' is composted and processed), the Ben&Anna Sanitary House and a small toilet house.

The last structure to be completed was the Recycling Marketplace (place to educate and sell recycled materials that are made into new products).

If you plan to support our tasks in the Recycling Village, you can expect a very varied time.

    There are 4 different divisions:
    - Recycling Village
    - (Green) Education Center
    - Waste Management
    - Conservation

The tasks change depending on the current campaigns and where your help is needed at the moment. You can, for example, help with the construction of buildings. Ecobricks are worked into a bamboo structure and fixed with a kind of mortar made of clay, cow dung, which serves as glue, and rice husks. Then the visible building blocks are plastered with a similar mixture to protect the plastic bottles from UV radiation. The terrain is very extensive. It is a good idea to add some seating under trees or by the nearby pond. You can also take care of the design of the garden through flowers and other plants.
Furthermore, you can learn a lot about permaculture, disadvantages and alternatives to palm-oil, how to establish a waste management system, teach English to children (and adults) and much more.

    Volunteer Program:
    - Working hours are from: Monday to Friday
    - Working times are from roughly form 8:00 - 12:00 & 14:00 - 17:00
    - Additionally, 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) beginning at 8 o'clock in the morning there are daily activities where the whole Project Wings team helps where support is needed most, e.g. on Friday it is Clean Up where we collect garbage from/ around the village.

We want to give everyone the chance to look behind the scenes of a successful NGO and offering transparency in all divisions.
