Details on arrival
Volunteers are welcome to join the Animal Aware program year-round, Monday to Friday. We ask that arrivals are scheduled on weekdays so that our team can properly welcome and orient you - weekend arrivals are not available.
Volunteers stay with host families in Sumpango, just a short walk from the shelter. This makes getting to the project each day very easy and allows you to immerse yourself in authentic Guatemalan life.
On your first day, you’ll be greeted by our local coordinator, shown around the shelter, and introduced to the daily routine. After orientation, you’ll start supporting the animals right away.
Programs are flexible, so you can decide how long you’d like to stay. Whether you join for two weeks or several months, your help is greatly appreciated!
