    About the program

    Located near the crossroads to the West, South and North of Iceland, the project offers an opportunity for you to share your knowledge with other volunteers while exploring creativity, environmental issues and intercultural learning. The main goal of the project is to improve education and raise awareness about environment problems. You will be involved in various activities and tasks which includes beach cleanup, planting trees, workshops on climate change, research, renovation and lots more. 

    There are also opportunities to go on excursions to visit the popular areas and natural wonders that Iceland has.

    For a minimum of four weeks between February and November, you are sure to have a great time whether you are planting trees, cleaning the beach or even doing artwork. The memories you will create while working towards a great cause will surely be worth it. Be the change you wish to see!


    Typical day

    Volunteers play a vital role in achieving the project’s goal. As a volunteer you will be required to work a 5-6 hour shift with the possibility of your hours being extended depending on the duties/tasks that need to be done that day.

    The volunteer project is in Iceland where there are lots of unsoiled nature, beaches, glaciers in the highlands, canyons, waterfalls and craters.

    Requirements

    Minimum Age: 18 years

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Language Skills

    You need to speak English (intermediate level)

    Required Documents

    CV, Letter of motivation, Application form, Policies and Liability waiver (provided during application process)

    No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.

    Being able to communicate well in English.

    Time Commitment

    Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 08:00 - 15:00

    • Included excursion to the south side of Iceland

    • Included. However, you are encouraged to help clean and cook.

    Airport Pickup at Keflavik International Airport

    You will fly to Keflavik International Airport. You will be picked up by someone from the project. 

    Accommodation

    Shared sustainable house with facilities. It has double rooms, triple rooms, and quadruple rooms, two kitchens, several bathrooms, and common areas, rooms for workshops, and galleries. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag and towel, but beds and bed sheets will be provided. Be prepared to help with the daily chores: laundry, cleaning rooms, cooking and doing dishes, taking the trash out. 

    Food & Beverages

    Meals are included. However, everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. You can also bring along your favorite recipes and ingredients from home. The project can also accommodate different diets like vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free
