🗓️ Start Dates & Arrival Details
We want your journey to Nepal to be as smooth, safe, and stress-free as possible. From the moment you land in Kathmandu to your very first day at the project site, our team is with you every step of the way.
📅 Program Start Dates & Duration
When can I start? Our program runs year-round, with flexible start dates. Placements typically begin on Mondays, and we recommend arriving over the weekend (Saturday or Sunday) to settle in.
Duration: Minimum commitment is 2 weeks, but you can extend your stay up to 12 weeks depending on your schedule and visa allowance.
🛬 Smooth Arrival: Step-by-Step
When you land at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, our representative will be waiting for you right outside the arrivals terminal holding a sign with your name. No need to worry about navigating local transport alone!
We will drive you directly to your welcoming host family. You will have the weekend to unpack, rest from your flight, adjust to the local timezone, and enjoy your first authentic home-cooked meals.
Before stepping foot in the clinic, you will participate in an in-depth orientation. We will cover local cultural norms, essential safety guidelines, hospital protocols, and emergency procedures so you feel completely confident.
Your coordinator will introduce you to the full-time veterinary team and your local co-workers. We will review your specific skills and interests to set up your tailored schedule and assign your daily duties.
🛡️ Pre-Arrival Checklist & Important Information
⚠️ Visa Information: Most volunteers obtain a Tourist Visa on Arrival at the Kathmandu airport. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned stay.
Flight Details: Once your placement is confirmed, please share your exact flight numbers and arrival times with the volunteer coordinator at least 2 weeks in advance so we can guarantee your airport pickup.
Emergency Contact: You will be provided with the direct phone numbers of our coordinator and on-duty veterinary staff before you depart. Keep these handy at all times!
Packing Reminder: Don't forget your comfortable work scrubs, a labeled stethoscope (if applying for a medical role), and a sturdy headlamp for your evenings.
