Sun, summer, sea, rich culture, and warm-hearted people! Our animal shelter project is located on the beautiful island of Crete. Combine your love for animals with the desire to give back by supporting street dogs and cats in need. As a volunteer, you’ll help care for the animals, assist with daily tasks at the shelter, and play a key role in socializing them for a better future.
About the Project
The
program is managed by a local in Greece at the beautiful Crete Island, that aims to improve the
situation of animals living on the streets. Due to the amount of work that
it takes to keep the program running, the help provided by volunteers is always
greatly appreciated. Animals are only mediated when a family has the correct surrounding for a dog. The shelter is home to around 80 dogs, (and often cats, too) all needing daily care and attention. The local team is deeply passionate about giving these animals a real chance at a new, loving home.
What you can expect
Before
starting your volunteer work project, you will receive an orientation
by our
local staff. The local stuff is run by english speaking
people. They are very happy to welcome volunteers from all over the
world. Usually you will be in the program with other volunteers. The project can be reached in a few minutes by bus.
