    This camp takes place in Siglufjörður, a charming fishing town in North Iceland surrounded by mountains and ocean. Volunteers support community-led environmental and cultural projects such as maintaining public spaces, light renovation work, coastal clean-ups, and assisting with local events. The camp also includes outdoor activities, hikes, and opportunities to learn about the region’s history and nature while contributing to sustainable community development.

    Short Itinerary

    Day 1 – Pick-up & Welcome

    Arrival, orientation, and introduction to the program.

    Day 2 – Golden Circle Excursion

    Full-day tour exploring Iceland’s iconic natural sites.

    Day 3 – Transfer to Siglufjörður (Wednesday)

    Scenic transfer day to the North.

    Day 4–5 – Forestry Work (Thursday & Friday)

    Environmental work and conservation activities.

    Day 6 – Myvatn  Excursion (Saturday)

    Relaxing cultural and nature-based activity.

    Day 7 – Hiking Day (Sunday)

    Guided hike in the surrounding mountains.

    Day 8–12 – Forestry Work (Monday–Friday)

    Continued conservation work with the local forestry team.

    Day 13 – Whale Watching & Akureyri (Saturday)

    Excursion to observe Iceland’s marine wildlife.

    Day 14 – Kayaking (Sunday)

    Adventure activity exploring the fjord.

    Day 15–16 – Farewell Days (Monday & Tuesday)

    Reflection activities, closing session, and group farewell.

    Day 17 – Transfer to the Farm & Drop-off (Wednesday)

    Transport back to South and the end of the program.

    Day 18 – Drop-off BSI (Thursday)


    Extended Itinerary


    Day 1 – Pick-Up & Welcome 

    We welcome the group upon arrival and travel together to the accommodation. Teens will meet their leaders, get a tour of the area, and enjoy fun ice-breaker activities to get to know each other.
    A relaxed evening with games, snacks, and a welcome talk.


    Day 2 – Golden Circle Adventure

    The group explores some of Iceland’s most famous natural wonders: geysers, waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes.
    It’s a full day packed with photography moments, trivia games, and a picnic with the group — perfect for bonding and making new friends.


    Day 3 – Transfer to Siglufjörður (Wednesday)

    A beautiful road trip to the north of Iceland.
    Along the way, we make short stops for photos and snacks. Teens love this day — the views are unforgettable.


    Days 4–5 – Forestry & Environmental Projects (Thursday–Friday)

    Students take part in meaningful conservation work such as tree planting, trail upkeep, and outdoor environmental tasks.
    All activities are adapted for youth and supervised by trained leaders.
    This is where they learn teamwork, responsibility, and environmental awareness.


    Day 6 – Mývatn Adventure Day (Saturday)

    A highlight of the camp!
    The group explores one of Iceland’s most stunning natural areas — lava formations, geothermal spots, and landscapes that look straight out of a movie.
    There are fun challenges, educational games, and lots of time for photos.


    Day 7 – Hiking Day (Sunday)

    A guided hike adapted for teens, with safe routes and amazing views.
    Leaders run reflection activities, nature appreciation moments, and group games.


    Days 8–12 – Forestry Week (Monday–Friday)

    A full week of outdoor teamwork in the beautiful forests near Siglufjörður.
    Students rotate tasks so everyone gets to try different roles.
    Evenings include workshops, movie nights, cooking sessions, and camp activities.


    Day 13 – Whale Watching & Akureyri Visit (Saturday)

    A magical day!
    The group heads out into the fjord for whale watching — a favorite for all participants.
    Afterward, they explore Akureyri, Iceland’s charming northern capital, with time for souvenirs and local snacks.


    Day 14 – Kayaking (Sunday)

    Safe, guided kayaking in calm waters designed for beginners.
    Great for confidence-building and teamwork — and of course, super fun.


    Days 15–16 – Farewell Days (Monday & Tuesday)

    The last days in the north include reflection activities, group games, a small celebration, and preparing memory books or photo boards.
    The team leaders help the group look back on everything they achieved together.


    Day 17 – Transfer to the Farm (Wednesday)

    A comfortable transfer back south.
    We include music, games, and stops along the way to make the journey fun.


    Day 18 – Drop-Off at BSI (Thursday)

    We say goodbye after an unforgettable adventure!
    Staff guide the group through departure procedures and ensure every teen is safely dropped off.

    We normally start the day with breakfast at 9 am. Depending on the activity during the day, we will pack lunch to take with us or have lunch at our accommodation. After the day's activities, we will focus on improving our Environmental education through a selection of workshops, discussions, and visits.

    WF Cancellation fees & charges

    As we start to incur costs from the time the contract is confirmed, we will apply cancellation charges as shown below from the time when written notification of the cancellation is received:

    • With a notice of more than 30th days, the cancellation will be free of charge.
    • With a notice between 30th – 14th days, 50% of the total fee will be charged.
    • With a notice of less than 14th days, 100% of the total fee will be charged.
    • Any expenses that may occur due to early departure will be covered by the participant and not WF. No refund shall be given.


    Code of Conduct

    In order to have adequate conduct during the program, the following points are established that must be complied with without exception.


    • WF is committed to ensuring an environment that is free of discrimination and to fostering a climate in which all participants can have an exceptional experience.
    • Clothing. Appropriate footwear and suitable outdoor clothing must be worn. We reserve the right to refuse participation to participants who are dressed inappropriately or with inappropriate footwear since this will put the participant’s well-being and safety at risk.
    • Non-prescription Drugs. We reserve the right to terminate the program to participants we believe are under the influence of drugs, in such circumstances, no refund shall be given.
    • WF reserves the right to refuse participation and to cancel the stay to any participant whose conduct or manner is likely to cause offense, upset, or put other participants in danger. Any expenses that may occur due to early departure will be covered by the participant and not WF.

    Airport Pickup at Keflavik International Airport

    Pick-up Procedures: Participants need to arrive on the first day of the camp to Keflavik International Airport. Please share their travel details with us (Airline, Flight No., Arrival time, and departure information) WF Staff will pick them up according to their arrival. WF will make groups with similar up to 2 hours of arrival time. WF staff will be holding a sign with our logo in the arrivals lounge.


    Drop-Off Procedures: WF will take the participants on the last day of the camp back to Keflavik International Airport. WF will make Drop off groups with similar departure times of up to 2 hours. The drop will be at the departure lounge.


    Accommodation

    Participants will be staying in two different locations, they will share the rooms gender-based with shared bathrooms


    Accommodation in The Farm: WF House

    Volunteers will be staying in the house of Worldwide Friends. A fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas. House capacity 15.

    Food & Beverages

    Food is included for the duration of the work camp; however, everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. Since it is always nice to try new and different dishes, volunteers are encouraged to bring along their favorite recipes from home! We encourage our volunteers to try vegan and vegetarian meals during their stay with us.

    We provide a well-balanced and healthy variety of food products that includes a wide variety of whole grains, seasonal fruits & vegetables, pantry staples, dairy products, vegetarian/vegan options. We try to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet by cutting down our meat intake and we usually encourage volunteers to try more sustainable dishes.


    However, we will provide the ingredients for you to bake delicious snacks! As we bake our own bread feel free to bring any golden crust recipes from home!

    The nearest airport is Keflavik International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavik. We assist you to find cheap flights to Iceland. FIND CHEAP FLIGHTS

    Travel Insurance

    Details on arrival

    The first day of the camp is Arrival Day and the last day of the camp is Departure Day.


    Arrival Date

    The first day of the camp is Arrival Day, and the last day of the camp is Departure Day.

    Participants will be picked up at the Keflavík International Airport according to their arrival time.


    For transportation, please note that the Flybus service is a very safe and reliable option for all participants. Upon arrival at the airport, you can easily locate the Flybus office—which is open 24 hours a day—right after collecting your luggage. The staff there will guide them, and the bus departs conveniently from the parking area just outside the terminal.

    The Flybus will take them directly to the BSI station in Reykjavík, where one of our team members will be waiting to personally welcome and collect each participant. It is a smooth, secure, and well-organized process, ensuring a comfortable start to their program.


    Departure Date

    Drop-Off Procedures: WF will take the participants on the last day of the camp back to Keflavík International Airport.

    Note: the night of the last date of the camp is NOT  included.
