By working with sea turtles, communal and environmental education programs, we will be able to educate people on the importance of caring about such a valuable environmental resource: sea turtles

    Look for Proactive volunteers, with a desire to protect our mother nature and with a lot of love for animals. 

    Our main mission is to protect the turtles, however, that is not the only thing we do because together with other organizations in the area and the Costa Rican Ministry of the Environment, we are working on the management of the biological corridor, from Tortuguero National Park to Moin In the city of Limón, for this we also work on cleaning the beach, monitoring animals in the area and monitoring the environmental impact that people may cause due to deforestation for crops or illegal logging

    Typical day

    After breakfast, which is at 8 a.m., we start working on the project, which varies depending on the season. If we are in the turtle season and there are eggs in the hatchery, the schedules will be in different shifts for all the volunteers. During the day there is maintenance work or some social ...

    After breakfast, which is at 8 a.m., we start working on the project, which varies depending on the season. If we are in the turtle season and there are eggs in the hatchery, the schedules will be in different shifts for all the volunteers. During the day there is maintenance work or some social work in the school in the small town of Pacuare town, animal moinitoring, beach cleaning 

    At night, patrols are made from 8 PM to 12 AM and from 12 AM to 4 AM. Hatchery shifts are 3 or 4 hours depending on the number of volunteers there.


    Breakfast: 8:00
    Lunch: 12:00
    Dinner: 6:00

    Free-time activities

    During free time, volunteers will have the opportunity to play sports, walk through the jungle, kayak, fish and make campfire on the beach among other things that can be done in a place surrounded by nature and with an extensive beach.

    • Cauita, 
    • Puerto ...

    • Turrialba and Irazu volcanos, 
    • the waterfalls and much other places 

    We are located on an islet, it is only possible to arrive by water, so any excursion is necessary. Dario, take the boat, which has an additional cost of $40 round trip, if it is to the pier, if you go to Tortuguero, it will depend on the number of people like this the price will be lower.

    Minimum Age: 18 years

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    Time Commitment

    Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 09:00 - 13:00

    The fee you are paying covers:

    • transportation from the airport to the dock on your arrival, Does not include return trip to San José
    • 3 meals at day

    • Boat trip from the dock to the camp on your arrival and boat from the camp to the cok on your departure  
    If you request private transportation on your departure we can arrage this for an extra cost. 

    Airport Pickup at Juan Santamaria International Airport

    Our team in charge of the transport are people of total trust, in addition they will be duly identified with the logo of our organization for the confidence of our volunteers, also in case you need to go to an ATM, supermarket or go to eat something, our transport manager will be in the best disposition to take you during the journey to the dock

    What does the transportation service include?

    Pick up from the airport to the dock, boat from the dock to the camp, on your departure, boat from the camp to the dock and taxi from the dock to Batan the nearest city 

    Accommodation

    We live in a wood house 5 rooms 6 persons each room, 3 bung beds per room 

    The house is located in cated in front to the beach, so you will hear the sound of the waves every night and you will be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of living in front of the sea and surround by exuberant wildlife 

    Food & Beverages

    We provide 3 meals a day: 

    • breakfast, lunch and dinner. 

    We provide the typical Costa Rican food like gallo pinto, picadillo, empanadas, panqueques.

    Drinks such as lemon, passion fruit, and typical fruits juices from Costa Rica. 

    We are able to provide especial dietary such as vegetarian or vegan. Our dietary is mostly vegetarian.
