As a Women’s Empowerment Facilitator, you will be at the heart of meaningful change, helping women and girls in rural Ghana build brighter, independent futures. This program takes place in Aburi–Oboadaka in the Eastern Region of Ghana, a peaceful hillside community surrounded by green landscapes and welcoming local families.
Volunteers work closely with local women’s groups, youth groups, and community leaders to deliver practical and engaging sessions. Tasks may include supporting entrepreneurship and small business training, assisting with vocational skills workshops, facilitating discussions on financial literacy and savings groups, mentoring girls on leadership and confidence-building, supporting reproductive health awareness sessions, and helping organize community empowerment events. Volunteers may also assist with developing or strengthening small income-generating projects.
Work takes place in community centers, schools, or local meeting spaces within the village. Accommodation is safe and modest, located within or near the community, offering a culturally immersive experience and close interaction with local residents.
We expect volunteers to be respectful of local traditions, open-minded, patient, and willing to work collaboratively rather than independently leading programs. A background in social work, education, gender studies, health, or business is helpful but not required. What matters most is a genuine commitment to empowerment and a willingness to learn from the community.
TANF Ghana provides pre-arrival guidance, orientation upon arrival, local supervision, and ongoing support throughout the placement. Volunteers do not need to bring special equipment. However, bringing comfortable clothing suitable for warm weather, a notebook, and any optional training materials or simple workshop resources is recommended.

Whether supporting a woman to start a small business or encouraging a girl to continue her education, your involvement can create lasting ripple effects for generations.
