    About the program

Volunteer in Bali with IVHQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization trusted by more than 155000 volunteers since 2007.

Make a meaningful difference by supporting community construction projects in the peaceful coastal town of Lovina, located in northern Bali. Known for its black sand beaches, relaxed pace of life, and strong sense of community, Lovina offers an authentic Balinese setting for volunteers who enjoy hands on work that creates visible, long lasting impact.

You will help improve essential community infrastructure by assisting with construction, repairs, painting, and general building projects that support schools, community centers, and local facilities. This fully hosted experience allows you to contribute to meaningful development efforts while experiencing everyday life in a traditional Balinese village environment.

Your Role and Impact: The primary goal of this project is to enhance and maintain community spaces that are vital to local residents. Many buildings in rural areas require regular upkeep and renovation, and volunteers provide valuable physical support that helps create safer, more functional environments for education, community gatherings, and daily life.

As a Construction volunteer in Lovina, your work will be practical, active, and rewarding:

    • Building Support: Assisting with basic construction tasks such as mixing cement, carrying materials, laying bricks, or supporting small structural improvements.
    • Renovation Work: Painting walls, repairing classrooms or community buildings, and helping refresh facilities that are worn from regular use.
    • Community Projects: Supporting small scale building initiatives that respond to local needs, which may vary depending on current priorities.
    • Site Maintenance: Preparing work areas, cleaning tools, organizing materials, and ensuring project sites remain safe and tidy.

Volunteers work alongside experienced local builders, project coordinators, and fellow international volunteers. Local staff provide clear instruction, demonstrate tasks, and oversee safety on site, while volunteers contribute energy, teamwork, and hands on support that helps projects progress efficiently.

No special equipment is required for this program. All construction tools, materials, and safety equipment needed for daily tasks are provided on site. Volunteers should bring comfortable clothing suitable for physical outdoor work, closed toe shoes, and items to stay comfortable in warm weather.

No previous construction experience is required. A willingness to learn, physical fitness, and a positive attitude are the most important qualities for volunteers on this project.

Program Details and Accommodation: This program offers a fully hosted volunteer experience in Lovina, with accommodation provided in a volunteer house and meals included each day. Transport to and from construction sites is arranged locally. Volunteers gain practical building experience, work closely with the local community, and spend weekends exploring Lovina’s beaches, waterfalls, temples, and nearby natural attractions. Available year round, this program provides a rewarding opportunity to contribute to community development while enjoying a relaxed and culturally immersive experience in northern Bali.
