    About the program

Volunteer in South Africa with IVHQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization trusted by more than 155000 volunteers since 2007.

Make a meaningful difference by supporting a Holiday Club program in the coastal suburb of Table View, Cape Town. This community focused project provides children with a safe, engaging, and supportive environment during school holidays, combining learning, play, and positive role models in a vibrant seaside setting.

You will help support children from local communities by assisting with structured holiday activities, educational games, and recreational programs designed to keep young people active, engaged, and inspired during school breaks. This fully hosted experience allows you to contribute to youth development while enjoying life in one of Cape Town’s most scenic areas.

Your Role and Impact: The primary goal of this project is to provide children with a safe and enriching holiday experience that supports learning, confidence building, and social development. During school holidays, many families have limited access to childcare or structured activities. Holiday Club programs help fill this gap by offering positive routines, mentorship, and opportunities for fun and growth. Volunteers play a key role in delivering engaging activities and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants.

As a Holiday Club volunteer in Table View, your duties will be energetic, creative, and rewarding:

    • Activity Support: Assisting with games, sports, arts and crafts, music, and group activities that keep children active and engaged.
    • Educational Activities: Supporting basic learning exercises such as reading, storytelling, homework help, or themed educational sessions.
    • Child Supervision: Helping ensure children are safe, included, and supported throughout daily activities and outings.
    • Program Assistance: Assisting local coordinators with setting up activities, organizing materials, and maintaining a positive group environment.

Volunteers work closely with local program coordinators, youth leaders, teachers, and fellow international volunteers. Local staff provide guidance on daily schedules, safeguarding practices, and community expectations, while volunteers bring enthusiasm, creativity, and positive energy that enriches the Holiday Club experience.

No special equipment is required for this program. All activity materials and resources are provided on site. Volunteers should bring comfortable clothing suitable for active play, closed toe shoes, sunscreen, and items appropriate for outdoor activities.

No previous childcare or teaching experience is required. Energy, patience, creativity, and a positive attitude toward working with children are the most important qualities for volunteers on this project.

Program Details and Accommodation: This fully hosted volunteer experience includes accommodation in a volunteer house in Cape Town with meals provided each day. Transport to and from the Holiday Club location in Table View is arranged locally. Volunteers gain hands on experience in youth development, connect with volunteers from around the world, and spend free time exploring Cape Town’s beaches, cultural neighborhoods, markets, and nearby natural attractions. Available during school holiday periods, this program offers a fun, supportive, and impactful opportunity to support children and communities in Cape Town.
