    About the program

In many urban and peri-urban communities in Accra, vulnerable populations still face challenges in accessing affordable and timely healthcare. Overcrowded facilities, financial constraints, and limited health awareness often prevent people from seeking the care they need.

Our healthcare volunteer program in Accra is designed to support local health centers and community outreaches that provide essential medical services and health education to underserved groups. Working in partnership with the Ghana Health Service and local professionals, the program aims to strengthen service delivery while offering volunteers valuable international experience in community-based healthcare.

Volunteers are placed in partner clinics, hospitals, or community outreach teams based on their qualifications, experience, and the needs of the facility. All activities are carried out under the supervision of qualified health professionals.

    Typical responsibilities may include:

    • Assisting with basic health screenings such as blood pressure, BMI, temperature, and blood sugar checks.

    • Supporting patient flow and general clinic activities.

    • Participating in community health outreaches.

    • Assisting with public health education and awareness sessions.

    • Providing administrative or logistical support when needed.

This program is suitable for doctors, nurses, medical students, public health students, and individuals interested in health or social services.

    Location & Living Environment
Volunteers are based in Accra, Ghana’s capital city. Accra is a dynamic coastal city known for its cultural diversity, lively markets, beaches, restaurants, and historical sites. The city offers a blend of modern urban life and traditional Ghanaian culture, providing a unique and enriching environment for volunteers.

Accommodation is provided in a safe and comfortable volunteer house, where participants can interact with other volunteers and experience local life. Basic facilities are available, and three meals a day are provided. The accommodation is located within reasonable distance of project sites, making daily commutes convenient.

During free time and weekends, volunteers can explore popular attractions such as beaches, museums, art centers, markets, and cultural landmarks around Accra, or travel to other parts of the country.

    • Have a trustworthy and responsible background.

    • Can work independently with minimal supervision.

    • Show creativity and motivation to support community projects.

    • Possess good communication skills.

    • Are open-minded and adaptable to new cultures.

    • Have a genuine desire to support disadvantaged communities.

    Volunteers should bring:

    • Comfortable, modest clothing suitable for clinical or community settings.

    • Closed-toe shoes for hospital or outreach work.

    • Any personal medical equipment they prefer to use (if applicable).

    • Personal medications and essentials.
