Make a meaningful difference by supporting sports education programs in the coastal town of Senggigi, located on the island of Lombok. Known for its relaxed pace of life, scenic beaches, and strong sense of community, Senggigi provides a welcoming environment for volunteers who enjoy working with children and promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
You will help local children develop physical skills, confidence, and teamwork through structured sports activities and games. This fully hosted experience allows you to contribute to youth development while immersing yourself in everyday life within a traditional Indonesian community.
Your Role and Impact: The primary goal of this project is to encourage physical activity, teamwork, and positive social development among children through sport. Access to organized sports programs can be limited, and volunteers help provide engaging activities that support physical health, build self esteem, and teach important life skills such as cooperation, respect, and discipline.
As a Sports Education volunteer in Senggigi, your role will be active, energetic, and rewarding:
- Sports Activities: Assisting with or leading basic sports sessions, games, and physical activities suited to different ages and ability levels.
- Skill Development: Helping children improve coordination, balance, fitness, and motor skills through fun and structured exercises.
- Team Building: Encouraging teamwork, fair play, and positive communication during group sports and activities.
- Session Support: Setting up equipment, organizing activities, and assisting local teachers or coaches during sports sessions.
Volunteers work alongside local teachers, sports coordinators, and fellow international volunteers. Local staff provide guidance on session structure, cultural expectations, and appropriate activities, while volunteers bring enthusiasm, encouragement, and fresh ideas that help motivate children to participate and stay active.
No special equipment is required for this program. All sports equipment and materials needed for activities are provided on site. Volunteers should bring comfortable athletic clothing, suitable footwear, and items to stay hydrated during outdoor sessions.
No previous coaching or teaching experience is required. Energy, a positive attitude, and a willingness to actively engage with children are the most important qualities for volunteers on this project.
Program Details and Accommodation: This fully hosted volunteer experience includes accommodation in a volunteer house in Senggigi with meals provided each day. Transport to and from sports activity locations is arranged locally. Volunteers gain hands on experience in youth development through sport, connect with volunteers from around the world, and spend weekends exploring Senggigi’s beaches, nearby islands, waterfalls, and cultural attractions. Available year round, this program offers a fun, supportive, and meaningful opportunity to promote health and confidence through sports education in Lombok.
