Make a meaningful difference supporting early childhood education in the peaceful coastal town of Lovina, located in northern Bali. Known for its black sand beaches, calm waters, and relaxed village atmosphere, Lovina offers a quieter and more traditional Balinese experience that is ideal for volunteers who enjoy working closely with local communities.
You will support kindergarten aged children by assisting teachers, helping with classroom activities, and providing extra attention and encouragement during the school day. This fully hosted experience allows you to contribute to early childhood development while immersing yourself in everyday life in a welcoming Balinese community.
Your Role and Impact: The primary goal of this project is to support early learning and development for young children during a critical stage of their growth. Many kindergartens in this region operate with limited resources and high student to teacher ratios. Volunteers help ease this pressure by offering additional support, creating engaging learning experiences, and ensuring children receive more individual attention in a safe and nurturing environment.
As a Kindergarten volunteer in Lovina, your duties will be hands on, creative, and rewarding:
- Classroom Support: Assisting local teachers with basic lessons, early literacy activities, songs, and simple English exposure.
- Child Supervision: Helping guide children during playtime, snack breaks, and daily routines to maintain a caring and structured environment.
- Creative Activities: Leading arts and crafts, music, games, and storytelling that support cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- General Assistance: Helping prepare learning materials, tidying classrooms, and setting up activities throughout the day.
Volunteers work closely with local kindergarten teachers, school staff, and fellow international volunteers. Local educators provide guidance on lesson structure, cultural expectations, and classroom routines, while volunteers bring energy, creativity, and extra hands that enhance the learning experience for each child.
No special equipment is required for this program. All classroom materials and teaching resources are provided by the kindergarten. Volunteers are welcome to bring small items such as stickers, flashcards, or basic stationery if they wish, but this is entirely optional. Comfortable clothing suitable for working with young children is recommended.
No previous teaching or childcare experience is required. Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in supporting young children are the most important qualities for volunteers on this project.
Program Details and Accommodation: This program offers a fully hosted volunteer experience in Lovina, with accommodation provided in a volunteer house and meals included each day. Transport to and from your kindergarten placement is arranged locally. Volunteers gain valuable hands on experience in early childhood education, connect with like minded volunteers from around the world, and spend weekends exploring Lovina’s beaches, waterfalls, temples, and nearby natural attractions. Available year round, this program provides a supportive and enriching opportunity to contribute to early learning in a calm and culturally immersive setting in northern Bali.
