    About the program

Volunteer in Bali with IVHQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization trusted by more than 155000 volunteers since 2007.

Make a meaningful difference by promoting health education in the peaceful coastal town of Lovina, located in northern Bali. Known for its relaxed pace of life, black sand beaches, and strong community values, Lovina offers an ideal setting for volunteers who want to support wellbeing initiatives while experiencing traditional Balinese culture.

You will support local children and community members by helping them learn essential health and hygiene practices that encourage healthier daily habits. This fully hosted experience allows you to contribute to public health education while living and volunteering in a close knit village environment.

Your Role and Impact: The primary goal of this project is to improve overall health awareness among children and local communities by teaching practical, easy to understand hygiene and wellbeing skills. Many schools and families have limited access to structured health education, and volunteers play an important role in delivering lessons that can positively influence long term health outcomes.

As a Health Education volunteer in Lovina, your tasks will be interactive, practical, and community focused:

    • Hygiene Education: Teaching children the importance of hand washing, oral hygiene, and general personal cleanliness through demonstrations and activities.
    • Health Awareness: Introducing basic concepts related to nutrition, hydration, and healthy daily routines in a simple and engaging way.
    • Creative Learning: Using games, visuals, songs, and interactive demonstrations to communicate health messages to students with varying levels of English.
    • Lesson Support: Preparing simple teaching materials, setting up activities, and working with local staff to deliver age appropriate sessions.

Volunteers work closely with local teachers, community coordinators, and fellow international volunteers. Local staff provide guidance on lesson structure, cultural sensitivity, and appropriate teaching methods, ensuring activities are respectful, effective, and aligned with community needs. Qualified medical professionals may also support broader health campaigns or basic check up clinics, subject to verification of professional credentials.

No special equipment is required for this project. All teaching materials and basic supplies are provided on site. Volunteers may bring small visual aids or stationery if they wish, but this is optional. Comfortable clothing suitable for school and community settings is recommended.

No previous teaching or medical experience is required for school based health education activities. An interest in wellbeing, clear communication, and a positive attitude are the most important qualities for volunteers.

Program Details and Accommodation: This fully hosted program includes accommodation in a volunteer house in Lovina with meals provided each day. Transport to and from your placement is arranged locally. Volunteers gain hands on experience in community health education, connect with like minded volunteers from around the world, and enjoy weekends exploring Lovina’s beaches, waterfalls, temples, and nearby natural attractions. Available year round, this program offers a meaningful and well supported opportunity to promote health and wellbeing in a relaxed and culturally immersive part of Bali.
